RaceRoom Releases A 1,400 Horsepower Electric Mustang

RaceRoom Racing Experience has released a new car in the form of the Ford Mustang Mach E 1400.

Sector 3 Studios has been hard at work bringing new cars and tracks to RaceRoom Racing Experience. Recently they’ve added the Circuit Paul Armagnac and the resplendent Mercedes AMG GT4 2020 to the sim, and they’ve teased the release of Assen circuit.

But today’s release came as a surprise to most in the sim racing community. The Ford Mustang Mach E 1400 was added to the RaceRoom Store. This is a one-off track and drift car designed by Ford Performance and RTR. And there’s a twist. The 1,400-horsepower car is all-electric. It’s a one-off project, and the car has only been driven by a select few drivers.

The car houses seven electric motors and a 56.8-kilowatt-hour battery made up of nickel manganese cobalt pouch cells. The aero fit-out includes a massive rear wing and large canards fitted to the front of the car. The combined efforts of the aero pieces and the motors propelling the car to 160 miles per hour produces roughly 2,300 pounds of downforce.

In sim, the has many of the characteristics we’ve come to expect from an electric performance car. The instantly available torque produces staggering acceleration, but the weight of the batteries ultimately limits its cornering possibilities. This is less of an issue for the Mach E 1400 given that the car was never touted to be a lap record breaking machine, but rather a fun toy capable of impressive feats in the hands of someone like Vaughn Gittin Jr.

Sector 3 has done a great job translating that level of fun into RaceRoom. It won’t fit into any race series, and the all-electric speed title in RaceRoom will remain with the Volkswagen ID. R, but for those looking for a fun escape this could be a good option. Given the limited battery life of the car, the best way to enjoy the car may be in Time Trial mode which removes fuel consumption for the session.

The Ford Mustang Mach E 1400 is now for sale through the RaceRoom Store. If you’ve tried this car or have any thoughts related to it, share them in the comments below.

Dear sim devs, never try to release unique or interesting cars to drive. It's not worth your time. All that sim racers are interested in is more GT3 cars that tired sim-dads can drive after a long day at work.
This made me LOL, and I know this is sarcasm. However... I worry that the community gives this impression sometimes. Devs, please do provide non-GT3 cars!!!

Edit: so good job RaceRoom for trying something different!

Probably the only electric car (so far) that I've ever actually wanted in a sim game.

Amen to this. And the instant torque of electric motors is MADE for some applications like rally. Also, over time, the world will figure out how to tune and have fun with EVs just like we did with ICE cars, but it'll just take a while.

One thing that's true about sims... there's little environmental impact, so we should at least always enjoy our roaring gas-guzzlers virtually! Plus sims largely recreate historic or current popular series/cars... so there'll need to be popular EV racing before EV cars in sims is popular IMO.
Most modern sims have some sort of Server component. Some of the biggest power drains in the entire world, or so I've read, are the Google Server farms. While the local impact of your 2000+$$ vid card running 3 screens and butt shakers and a fan aimed at your sweaty crotch..(admit it...we alllll have one) may not be too environmentally taxing, the full spectrum of computer gaming certainly eats a large chunk of the daily electric pie.

I can assure you it ain't the "Sim dads" who want more GT3 cars added to the glut of those cars in the class.
We want **** you can't paddle shift and has shitty brakes, tires, aero

Electric cars are nothing but one of the biggest tax scams of all time, probably only second to 'space exploration'. The fact it’s taking so long for the masses to catch on to this obviousness really shows people will believe anything presented by mass media and arguments of authority.
I could have sworn there is a Big Bang Theory quote about the general population paying for, or at least a portion, of EV cars, and then also paying for the electricity.. But I'll be danged if I can dredge it up.

Have driven this a couple of days ago...

Sad to say.. it doesnt suit my driving style...

Have to brake wayyyyy earlier, mid corner massive understeer, and partial throttle understeer...

But if i hustle it around to drift... Is ok and manageable...

Probably they release this car in drift setup.. 50-50 brake bias heavily suggest this kind of driving

I'm on for unique cars as long as they're not electric :p . Electric cars must be exhilarating to drive in real life with their instant power and low center of gravity. Too bad we can't really feel that in sim version of these cars, so for me they're just like car mods which the modders forgot to include the engine sounds files.

Well I test drove it last night and that's all I'll be doing. Definite non-purchase.

What a boring 1400hp car!! Even if it roared with V12 power it still wouldn't feel exciting. I tested it at Portimao and it wasn't even fast and it handled like a pig. Since Raceroom doesn't have RallyX or drift tracks I'm not sure what the point of it is.

I'd have rather they dipped into history again.

As an owner of every Tesla Performance cars since 2011, you have no idea about how powerful those cars are.... that's a ton of SOUL (in real life). For Sim Racing, I agree, EVs don't have the same feeling, but we'll have to adjust to it otherwise, there won't a planet left to drive any cars within a few decades.

People will always like what they know and are used to. There is no physical law that a F1 V10 should sound better than a electric motor. Both have a high pitch.
When/if we only get electric cars racing, we will get a generation that like the EV sound the best.
Also; it is no doubt a electric engine are WAY better than a ICE one. I prefer EV all day long. (Because I actually have tried them. They are faster off the line, they are silenter and they are just better.)
My dream car has a electric motor, it’s small and “light”, and doesn’t have any power steering. Would make a fun auto cross car.

Try pulling the handbrake every now and then.

Define 'better'.

At full power the battery lasts for well less than four minutes!!!!!

And nix the 'miles per hour' and 'pounds'.

I always like new cars and classes in racing sims.. but this car looks.. strange.. not to say "not good" lol. Maybe a testdrive, but I doubt I will purchase the car. Hope for more (W)TCR content, especially tracks :] I need more street circuits! Haha.
