RaceRoom Quietly Releases One of Its Best Cars

Sector 3 Studios updated RaceRoom Racing Experience this week and released one of its best cars: the Mercedes AMG GT4 2020.

A new build for RaceRoom Racing Experience brought a new car to the racing sim this week. The Mercedes AMG GT4 2020 was added to the RaceRoom Store with little in the way of build-up to the release, and an understated announcement.

While GT4 class cars aren’t as powerful or popular as their GT3 counterparts, this particular GT4 may surprise some in the sim community with how fun it is to drive. The car is well done in every facet and ranks among the best recent entries for RaceRoom.

The interior and exterior on the Merc are nicely detailed, and the sounds are the best-in-gaming quality we’ve come to expect from Sector 3. Most importantly, the car is a blast to drive. It is deceptively heavy, so it has a tendency to understeer if overdriven, but after a few short laps the driving experience becomes a fast and amusing treat with nearly every curb in play. RaceRoom’s recently overhauled FFB complements the car perfectly as well.

The Mercedes is the seventh car in the field of GT4s for RaceRoom, joining Audi, BMW, Lotus, KTM and two Porsches. RaceRoom allows for fully customizable AI fields, so you can set up races against other GT4s, GT3s, or any of the dozens of other car classes on offer. And yes, those who crave racing GT cars at Nordschleife but haven’t been able to in their other favourite sim can do so here in RaceRoom.

The car is now for sale in the RaceRoom Store for 399 vRP (~$5 USD). Remember that you can test drive any of the cars in RaceRoom for free by simply entering the store in game and clicking “Test Drive”.

Not playing RaceRoom nowadays for various reasons (FFB mainly since the update, feels dead mid corner, I got a better processor so my performance issues are less pronounced). But I have to comment one thing, which I usually do when rF2 releases new cars. What is that dashboard display and what are those dashboard fonts? Come on, it's 2021.

R3E used to be the worst on this front in the very beginning, they updated their dashboard "tech" years ago when they became one of the best. But lately they have been going back... not only their dashboards are outdated and not what is in the real car, I can deal with that as long as it looks believable. But even stretching fonts and elements? Newest DTM DRS/P2P indicators also come to mind.

Personally even raceroom is „only“ my no. 2 or 3 sim right now, i must say the gt4 category is the best among all other sims in terms of pure driving fun.
So i will pick up these Benz for sure.

Loving Raceroom right now! It definitely gives me unique combos that feel super fresh after 10 years in iRacing (DTM at Norsing, WTCR at the Hungaroring, DTM 92 at Zolder). I was looking forward to WTCR at Anderstop last weekend, but sadly I was in kidney pain since Friday. Sadly that race is on the middle of my work day in the US.

I am really enjoying it and it motivated me to try out the Leaderboard Challenge... so I pushed it there for the Top 10 around Hockenheimring, with some more time to be found ^^

I find GT4 cars in this game to be really weird to control. They must have less grippy tires than the higher-class GT cars, because GT3s, 2s, and 1s all feel way easier to control despite being much more powerful.

Its not so much they quietly released the car....more that many just simply aren't listening.

How can they be heard in the current environment of the behemoth that is Assetto Skyrim and all the other noise?

I fired it up the other day because i just upgraded my whole PC so tried every game i had, and it was good, enjoyable, but I just can't spend much time in it.
When you look at what the majorituy want in AC modding, drift cars, lawn mowers, differnt levels of grass, disney CARS cars, hot wheels tracks etc etc...
Its no wonder no one is listening... a real shame.

I want to like this game, but RR delivers to me the most boring numb FFB on the market with my SC2 Pro and it basically feels like a rubberband with rumble effects. Every time I had decent FFB with this game like in May/June last year, they kill it with an update. The experience with other wheels may differ, but for me it's just driving by experience and sound rather than feel on the limit. Even WRC 10 is a lot better in terms of FFB once tweaked while AMS2 and rF2 are completely in a different universe. The FFB in rF2 was disappointing as well with the SC2 Pro, but this has changed, if it's due to better physics or a better profile.

Yes GT4 is much closer to its road going version. Having seen gt4 and gt3 tyres next to one another a few years back, yes there are smaller in width. So heavier, less developed car, plus more weight. Can mean more of a handful, but I think that’s why they are liked so much.

Has there ever been a statement why their dashboards look like this? While some Cars are kind of accurate and others are just the black whole with yellow text. Merc GT3 has kind of the real dashboard, gt4 version has the weird RaceRoom version ; black background yellow strechted fonts

I can't stand the unrealistic AI flashing headlights to pass. I hope they make an option to turn it off.

Other than the increasing list of AI bugs, this is definitely one of the best games.
Shane that they are heading towards how rf2 is that is unenjoyable to race with AI.

I drove this today and was seriously impressed. The ffb felt instantly intuitive, with the perfect balance of grip vs slip.

So far I've only driven it at Hockenheim, so I'd be interested to see how it performs on a track with more elevation change or more tight and twisty sections.

Is there any chance to see night racing and dynamic weather?

I just want to get in, but don't want to spend a lot of money on just new content on a sim with no future.

Is there any road map on the development?
