Le Mans Virtual Series Calendar Announced

One of the biggest esports events of the year, the Le Mans Virtual Series, has published details about the upcoming races.

Following closely behind the real 24 Hours of Le Mans race for 2021, the virtual series has been confirmed with more details.

The Le Mans Virtual event is a series of races culminating in a virtual recreation of the famous French endurance race. The first four races are also endurance races, though much shorter than the 24-hour finale. Fans of the virtual series won’t have long to wait for the event, as the first race is set for the 25th of this month.

Here is a look at the calendar of events in the series:
  • September 25th, 2021 - 4 Hours of Monza
  • October 16th,2021 - 6 Hours of Spa
  • November 13th, 2021 - 8 Hours of Nürburgring
  • December 18th, 2021 - 6 Hours of Sebring
  • January 15th to 16th, 2022 - 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual
This is considered a major esports racing event, and there is $250,000 of total prize money. There will be both Le Mans Prototype (LMP) and GT Endurance (GTE) cars in the field.

Le Mans Virtual uses rFactor 2 as its platform, and 38 competitors will take part in this year’s race. The event attracts not only elite level racers from the sim racing world, but also some bigger names from real-world motorsports. Last year’s field included names such as Kamui Kobayashi, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, alongside well-known sim racers such as Jimmy Broadbent, Rudy van Buren and Jarno Opmeer.

Organizers will be hoping for an event equally as exciting as the real 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. The famous and historic endurance event did not disappoint this year, and featured weather complications, a new car class, dramatic (though thankfully not serious) crashes, last lap mechanical failures, and an LMP2 finish decided by just 0.7 seconds!

Let us know your thoughts on the real or virtual Le Mans events this year in the comments below.

Yeah, I don't see repeat of "remarkable success" if they won't stay with real racing driver+simracer format.

+ how many red flags do they have "planned" for 24h this time?

How many red flags flew in the 10 minute F1 race this past weekend? I would hope they begin to introduce the concept of damage to the series. I know many of these sim teams test rpm limits for hours and hours to figure out just the max rpm they can run. Might not be fair for an all real-world driver team to expect that much research.

So sad that this game is unplayable on the Reverb G2+3080. Especially the LeMans track keeps dropping frames all the time at even the lowest possible setting, and the developers of RF2 don't want to look at the bug.

What's your exact cpu and how many cars on the field?

Last years Race was a total mess...sorry. even Max and Lando instantly deleted RF2 on their PC because they lost connection to the Race. IMHO Rf2 is dead.

IMHO rF2 is far from dead. As much as I love PC2, AMS2 and especially AC, rF2 keeps drawing me back. It’s still the king of sim racing. There’s just something about it. Must agree with gamma123152 that the ‘official’ rFactor 2 Circuit is very poorly optimised and with krzysiek_aleks, that without ‘real’ racers, the event would be less impressive. But lets be honest, last years event was incredibly impressive.

Looking forward to this series, please update once the entry list is known, hopefully some big names will show up for it. I don't know why all people can do is bash rf2, did you even watch the previous virtual Le Mans? I'd say from a spectators view it was a big success and - again from a spectators view - they handled the unfortunate game crashes pretty well. Sure, many things could be gone better but that is what I expect for this series.

Runs pretty good on my G2+3080. Almost as good as iRacing whilst looking much better. Join the rf2 discord, they have a helpful vr-discussion channel with lots of tips. Might be just a single setting or maybe a CPU not up to the task.

So.....how do teams enter?? Have heard nothing about where to sign up, who is eligible etc.

250,000 reasons why it would be better to Lan, preferably at Lemans
Fly in drivers, can't be there ? would be a 100 take their place in a heartbeat
Make it headline TV and have setup so fans could walk through
Glitch free and increase their exposure 10 fold

Yer, I had the same playing a race against the AI in VR the other day. Lots of dropped frames which freaks you out a bit.

I dont understand why when Marcel orginize these kind of Motor pool parties only friends are invited to join.

We just wanna have sexy fun with our sim, open the party to all the steam rf2 owners , bro! :inlove:

Then you have i poorly optimized. For me it is running like a charm and I just switched from a 2080Ti to an 3080Ti on a Reverb G2 with 3000x3000 pixels resolution...

er this is only good news for sim racing and not only that motorsport games, suspect tweaked verison of rf2 specific to the series. rF2 still needs alot of work its not dead yet, its still one ofthe best sim we have. None of the sim are complete all rounder, all better in there own areas.
