The Playstation 5 and Xbox Series S/X releases are a welcome sight for owners of the current generation of consoles. Sony has sold over 10 million PS5 units worldwide, with Microsoft’s Series S and X consoles exceeding 6 million units sold, but the racing game genre has been slow to adopt the improved capabilities of the latest consoles.

The mobile version of Assetto Corsa is the first thing fans will be able to get their hands on, with release scheduled for Tuesday. Whether racing sims are viable on handheld devices will be debated for years to come, but the idea of having any version of Assetto Corsa in our pockets is something that’s sure to appeal to many fans.

Although Kunos and 505 Games were vague about the future content for ACC, just knowing more is coming is good news. It’s easy to assume the coming cars outside of the BMW M4 GT3 could be GT2 cars. Competizione’s deal with SRO will continue to dictate the content, and with the majority of the current GT3 and GT4 cars already in place, GT2 is likely next. If this proves true, Competizione players can expect GT2 entries from Audi, Ferrari, KTM, Lamborghini and Porsche. Time will tell.

In addition to the cars, the tease of new tracks is equally intriguing. There were hints that future tracks would include American circuits. If this turns out to be the GT World Challenge America courses, that could mean the addition of Sonoma, Circuit of the Americas, Virginia International, Road America, Watkins Glen, Sebring and Indianapolis. It’s a big wish, but any of these tracks would be a great addition to ACC.

So, lots of exciting things coming from Kunos and 505 games in the future. They haven’t given us much in the way of detail to the forthcoming content for Assetto Corsa Competizione or Assetto Corsa 2, but the news of 9th generation consoles getting proper versions of ACC is a big deal in the console racing world, and most sim racers are probably going to give in to temptation and keep AC in our pockets via mobile.

Let us know your thoughts on the announcements, and which bits of news have you most excited for the future of the Assetto Corsa franchise.

No safety car is just very disappointing.
On the Kunos forums a while back I am pretty sure they said no safety car. Logic being it wasn’t applicable to online racing. Dont want to kick up the arguments on each side, just relaying what I remember.

Not looking for an argument... ;)

But I find it regrettable that the offline racing mode doesn't have a safety car because online racing can't. Many sim racers like me don't race online and prefer offline racing.

I run a league that uses private lobbies in several sims. If they are taking it away, that is a major disappointment.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but when a game company gets into mobile games it means they are out of ideas and just want to make money from the brand.
which could be a very good thing for the people who are interested in their core product, because I heard that mobile games are where the big money is and if they reinvest some of that into AC2 or ACC, totally fine for me. let some kid enjoy ACC on his iPhone, what do I care. Let Kunos have more money to optimize their core product - I certainly care about that.

Which never happens. The money from mobile is used to make more money from mobile.

How could an AC2 be better than a max-modded AC? I don't think they could do it. I have hundreds of cars in AC and most are more fun to drive than ACC GT3s
I somewhat feel the same. If it isn't backwards compatible... then what's the point of an AC2? Competing with AMS2?

Without mods, I can't imagine AC moving many copies in the last 3-4 years.

When I saw the video was half an hour long and that Kunos closed comments on it, I knew I had to come here to just know the content and announcements without watching talking heads for 30 minutes...

Here is the thing, next gen consoles.

It's clear they are not going to focus on improving a title(like most sims does), it's kinda like how Project Cars worked. Just keep making games and it will sell no matter what, especially on consoles where the player base doesn't even know mods are a thing. You Kunos fanboys need to wake up, ACC is in dire need of system and gameplay improvements since day one. Safety cars, FCY, private lobbies, proper career mode, proper leaderboards, a better weather system, a decent multiplayer environment with matchmaking, cross playing, a way to let it's own players report AND analyze cases(like counter-strike). All those, while they make the game more attractive, doesn't even compare to what selling a car or track brings in terms of money. Yea yea GT2's are cool, it will bring them money but not necessarily make the game better or even populate the game(remember when GT4's released?).

So I guess that's it, they gonna keep hammering DLC's while the game stays the same.

Has there been any word that AC2 wouldn't allow mods? Besides, Having basic features built in is always preferable to relying on modded workarounds. No matter how good Sol is, the live weather feature in the Madness engine has the same exact features without needing any installation tricks, workarounds, reshades, or a completely different interface.

There's a lot that AC2 could do that aren't possible to mod into Assetto Corsa, like rain propagation and dynamic track wetness, working pit speed limiters, ignition and stalling, onboard differential and ARB adjustments, driver swaps, the multi point tire model from ACC, safety cars/FCY laps, etc.

Dear writer, CTMP (Mosport) has been a part of the World Challenge America (Canada is in North America after all) as long as any of those tracks mentioned and only absent lately because of Covid travel restrictions. So I hope you are wrong in the list of tracks above and CTMP is included as it should be.

So the Supra GT4 is pretty much coming then? Neat.

Wondering if they're also going to bring the 2022-spec R8. Or the Huracan ST EVO2 (even though I don't know how many people drive in that category)
