The Playstation 5 and Xbox Series S/X releases are a welcome sight for owners of the current generation of consoles. Sony has sold over 10 million PS5 units worldwide, with Microsoft’s Series S and X consoles exceeding 6 million units sold, but the racing game genre has been slow to adopt the improved capabilities of the latest consoles.

The mobile version of Assetto Corsa is the first thing fans will be able to get their hands on, with release scheduled for Tuesday. Whether racing sims are viable on handheld devices will be debated for years to come, but the idea of having any version of Assetto Corsa in our pockets is something that’s sure to appeal to many fans.

Although Kunos and 505 Games were vague about the future content for ACC, just knowing more is coming is good news. It’s easy to assume the coming cars outside of the BMW M4 GT3 could be GT2 cars. Competizione’s deal with SRO will continue to dictate the content, and with the majority of the current GT3 and GT4 cars already in place, GT2 is likely next. If this proves true, Competizione players can expect GT2 entries from Audi, Ferrari, KTM, Lamborghini and Porsche. Time will tell.

In addition to the cars, the tease of new tracks is equally intriguing. There were hints that future tracks would include American circuits. If this turns out to be the GT World Challenge America courses, that could mean the addition of Sonoma, Circuit of the Americas, Virginia International, Road America, Watkins Glen, Sebring and Indianapolis. It’s a big wish, but any of these tracks would be a great addition to ACC.

So, lots of exciting things coming from Kunos and 505 games in the future. They haven’t given us much in the way of detail to the forthcoming content for Assetto Corsa Competizione or Assetto Corsa 2, but the news of 9th generation consoles getting proper versions of ACC is a big deal in the console racing world, and most sim racers are probably going to give in to temptation and keep AC in our pockets via mobile.

Let us know your thoughts on the announcements, and which bits of news have you most excited for the future of the Assetto Corsa franchise.

Sim racing and mobile don't go together, wrong audience, wrong device, etc.. Don't waste your time on a mobile game, focus on your core expertise and what you are known for... don't dilute your talent and resources on a stupid idea. Compete with iRacing, Forza, etc.. but don't waste a single minute on mobile game.

Well, it's good to have the american tracks, although to me it is still boring
with these so easy to drive GT3/4 cars only... but, since the tracks will look
great, it's alright for a few spins once in a while. And, if ACC is to use DLSS,
certainly it will improve the FPS count for everybody - very needed as we
all know how poorly optimized this Sim is.

And, Assetto Corsa PC being updated, its tire model? If that's true, it's
great news. Thanks to the modders this Sim is still very alive and looks
great with CSP, rain sffects and all, so the physics improvement will
make it even more attractive. Better, more detailed tracks, especialy
on the trees side, is only what will be missing.

Very very happy with the news that ACC will have further development and content! :)
I know I'm probably in a tiny minority here, but at this point I'm more interested in the continuous development of ACC than in a future AC2 because I like the laser focused approach on recreating official series.

Did Marco or anyone actually say “American” tracks. I saw the video saying tracks would be added at the bottom of the screen, but no other specifics. Did I miss it?

Weird, I don't remember any mention about an American Track Pack, Marco only stated that new circuits will be likely added. Could be Magny-Course, Valencia and an updated Zandvoort for a 2021 Season DLC. Not trying to be a buzzkill, but don't get your hopes up just yet for American tracks, at least in the next 6-7 months it seems unlikely.
Also he stated they are planning a total of 6-8 cars for the game, one being the M4 GT3. Others could be the Supra GT4, and the GT 2 cars maybe? And that still leaves another 1-3 surprises. And an important note is they are still in negotiation with the SRO, cause initially they had a licence agreement for 2 seasons if I'm correct, and that ended with last year. So it could still go anywhere, even another 2 seasons or more. But tbh I don't see why SRO wouldn't want to continue with Kunos, the exposure their series got from the game was massive.

And, Assetto Corsa PC being updated, its tire model?

Statement is:

Miscellaneous Assetto Corsa News
  • Tire model improvements coming with Gen 9 console release, will be added to PC version as well
  • Assetto Corsa 2 currently in early research and development phase
  • Ray Tracing will not be added to ACC
  • PC version of ACC will not offer private lobbies
  • ......

Guess there be no new Gen 9 AC version, so assume it's the ACC tire model.

In fairness to Kunos, I think we, the ACC community, got ourselves over hyped for this announcement...really for no reason. As a PC player most of this announcement wasn't relevant to me.
It's good that Kunos still have content planned for ACC into 2022, that said end of Q1 could be a while to wait for new content. In my opinion ACC is in dire need of new content....and a good BOP...but that's a whole other topic.

  • PC version of ACC will not offer private lobbies
  • Cross-platform play (PC to console) will not happen
These are some really bad news...

Also it seems the latest DLC's will stay kinda unfinished....

I for one am v happy with the news! DLSS will hopefully improve Vr for alot of folks and v happy to hear about new DLC and the free BMW. Did anyone notice that when he talked about the new cars, he did'nt just say "new cars", he said "very different new cars" Hmm, maybe im being way too optimistic, but that sounds v interesting!
Not sure how I feel about all the mobile console stuff, as long as it does'nt mean a detraction from the PC stuff im happy though
