Assetto Corsa Competizione to add GT2 Pack

The 2022 SRO Motorsport Annual Press Conference saw some special information released for sim racers. President of SRO Stephané Ratel surprisingly announced an upcoming GT2 expansion for ACC, which was later confirmed by Marco Massarutto, Executive Manager at Kunos Simulazioni.

Confirmed Content for ACC in 2023

Not only was the GT2 pack teased, but it was also announced that the 2023 update will include all the new GT3 vehicles in 2023, namely:
  • Ferrari 296 GT3
  • Lamborghini Huracán Evo (Evo Evo)
  • Porsche 911 GT3 R (992)
The exclusion of not mentioning any new race tracks doesn't mean no new tracks would be included, however, just like the 2020 pack included Imola.

The Surprising Announcement of the GT2 Pack

In all his excitement, shortly after the Fanatec presentation, Ratel announced: "... and I'm very happy because I heard, maybe now you are (going to) do the GT2..."

In Kunos' own presentation, just a few minutes later, Massarutto confirmed this surprising announcement. He exclaimed: "The decision to produce also the GT2 pack, actually, has been taken yesterday so it was not a story to be told today."

With this, it's now officially confirmed that the decision has been made to work on the GT2 pack.

ACC's Future Beyond the GT2 Pack

Massarutto further said: "The final decision to include also the GT2 pack has been also inspired by Maserati with a new car that is beautiful. So we believe that will be a great pack for Assetto Corsa Competizione, maybe to say goodbye, we don't know, but just wait."

This means that Kunos' don't even know if ACC will keep being developed alongside the long-awaited Assetto Corsa 2. Judging by the size of Kunos' development team, it would be a tough job to develop 2 AAA games side by side.

I'm guessing they do it because they take profit(?). But it only takes a couple of minuts in the server list to find out that no one is using GT4 for example (a DLC that was quite expensive back in time), or the new tracks added. You won't find more than 1 server full with a no DLC track).
So why would someone keep buying packs that you're unable to use online for the lack of players?
Maybe I'm missing something here.

Can't wait for the GT2 pack. The 488 Challenge is the funniest car to drive in ACC now in my opinion.

I couldn't care less about "online", I'm only interested in single player content. I'd feel dirty if I had to go into a server with meatsacks in it.

Meaning that this DLC is an instabuy for me.

just like the IRL championship I'm really not interested no purchase for me, I stay on the GT4!

This is cool.

I don't really care what is or isn't being played online because I'm mainly an offline racer and ACC is a good single player experience. I've enjoyed all the content so far so this DLC will be day one for me.

On another note: any word about 2022 liveries for the GT3s?

I think the 2022 liveries are already in the game. Unfortunately not as a "Season" like 2018-2021. I hope they will do this in near future.

You're probably right. I was hoping they would be in their own category like previous years.

Fantastic news! I for one cannot wait!
I sincerely hope this is a trend, expanding the car classes can only be good for the game.
Too early I know, but GT1? I've been good this year :)

GT2 class has significantly more power, a bit more weight but less downforce. Perfect. Thumbs up!

When AC2 was announced, the publisher said 2024. When Marco subsequently commented in an interview, he said "I dont know where 2024 came from but it won't be any later than that". Which makes me hopeful we'll see it release at the end of 2023. I hope they initially focus on other series and street cars since we have ACC. We'll see.

You are missing the fact that a majority of the user base is not very interested in e-sports. MPRS or leagues, only in a god simulation. Jus t for leisure time, playing ACC offline. It is the same still with AC.

I play offline, so whatever class they can add, I'm super happy :)
But if they also delivered other iconic USA tracks, it would be amazing...
