5 Track and Car Combinations To Try in Automobilista 2

Zoom Automobilista 2.jpg
AMS2 has improved over the last year, with a studio that seems to squeeze everything they can out of the Madness Engine.

If you haven't given AMS2 a go yet, or haven’t jumped back in for a while - these are the tracks and cars we recommend you trying.

Daytona Road Course - MetalMoro MRX Durated P2

With a 65 year history and located in Daytona Beach, Florida, the Daytona International Speedway is a fantastic circuit with plenty of history. Yes, turn 1 may be one of the hardest corners to get right, but the rest of the circuit rewards you with precise and super smooth driving. We recommend the P2 MetalMoro, which has 35bhp and weighs in at 800kg. This car is so fun to drive, and rewards you for driving on the very edge.

Spa-Francorchamps - Chevrolet Cruz Stock car ‘20

There’s nothing like taking Eau Rouge and Raidillon to the absolute limit and so I recommend the Chevrolet Cruz Stock car ‘20. With a naturally aspirated 6.8l V8, the Cruz Stock Car sounds and drives great!” If you nail it, (with the right conditions and setup) you can make it to the crest of Radillion flat out and what a feeling!! Spa is an incredibly rewarding track that provides plenty of opportunities to improve on your best laps times.

Long Beach - Porsche 911 RSR-19

Bumpy, slippy, tight turns, and walls everywhere - ready to ruin your race, on paper Long Beach should not be a fun track to drive at all. But my oh my it is! Yes it will screw you up and spit you out at any minute, but that’s half the fun! The Porsche 911 RSR-19 is the perfect car to race around Long Beach, first off it sounds beautiful and has the right amount of grip vs power to be an incredibly fun and rewarding car to drive.

Nordschleife - Mercedes-Benz CLK LM

The Green Hell, yes any recommended track list should always include Nords. With 154 corners and measuring 21 kilometres in length, you need to have a car that goes around corners and has the top end speed for the long straights. My recommendation for Nords is the Mercedes-Benz CLK LM in AMS2, this GT1 car is a beast with 600bhp and is so fun to drive with a sequential shifter.

Oulton Park - Ginetta G40 Cup

Blind crests and tight corners are two of the many reasons why Oulton Park is a fantastic circuit to drive. We recommend the Ginetta G40 Cup, it only has 143bhp but Ginetta racing can be some of the closest most competitive racing you will see! Also one of the corners at Oulton Park is Knickerbrook corner, named after a courting couple (no joke).

Which car and track combo's would you recommend to the rest of the community?

Ok, to give a serious answer:
I really enjoy the 90s version of tracks Reiza gave us. Combine them with the 80s/90s version of Group C or F1 cars and this is all I need. Spa ’93 is so much better than the modern version with its crappy chicane before start/finish.

Many good combos, thanks for that! AMS2 offers so much different content... haven't tested all combos yet. ;) :)

I don't really like street courses, but i often go back to:
Salvador Street - Metalmoro MRX P4 - not very special or exciting compared to other combos, but somehow it catches me everytime. :)
Cote D'Azur - Caterham Supersport - was racing this combo in an online lobby, since then i race it offline about once a week.

Kansai - Superkart 250cc - tried it yesterday first time, very funny!
(But when racing with a full grid of Ai, the last 8 drivers tend to crash in the first corner, needs adjustment imho. :whistling:)

I always mean to take note of my favorite combos, but I end up forgetting to... oh well. Here's a few that spring to mind:

- Procar on Brasilia (full circuit) is fun; you can even throw Group A into the mix for multiclass racing.
- Stock '19 on Goiania, great stuff.
- Porsche Cup on Brands Hatch, winter, early morning. Very spooky.
- F-USA Gen2 on Watkins Glen
- Formula V12 on Jacarepaguá Historic
- Opala Stock on Interlagos Historic
- Copa Classic on Curitiba
- Copa Truck on Tarumã
- GT5 on Ibarra (Group A and Montana have been good there, too)
- Superkart on Buskerud (shifter kart is good too, but a different experience)

Well, I live just a few kilometers away from the Hockenheim ciruit.
Visited the track first time in the early 70's. Oh yes I am a pretty old sim gamer and real motorsports lover.
Could not get away the wheel in my hands all the time.
I was driving myself in Hockenheim with many cars in private sessions from early 90' until today,
and in the beginning 90's with some Clio racecars in real life.

It's so big fun to re-visit my homebase track in AMS2 with so many nice combos on the historic track layouts.

My personal favorite at the moment is racing on the 2001 layout with the new Carts vs. the historic F1 V10 cars.
Tried to challenge the F1's what endet up in a messs...
Hey Kurpfälzer what s up?

Great combos listed here!

some I’m enjoying:
Copa Uno @ Guapore
F1 1990 @ Spa 1988
CART @ Adelaide
Opala Stock Car @ Jacarepaguá oval

It’s accurate but obviously rushed. It doesn’t have the same level of love and care we put into ours. Lilski went next level in terms of a realistic look, like the bent fence posts, tire marks on the grass outside the kerbs… etc
Maybe this will turn AMS2 Road America next to your AC Version. What do u think.
CL beta I ve seen ….
