3 Years After Its Initial Release, Trackmania Is Coming to Consoles and Steam

Ubisoft's newest entry in the Trackmania franchise, which is already almost 3 years old, is getting more accessible. 2023 will see the title being ported to consoles. Also, the exclusivity treatment on PC is stopping.

Previously, the title has only been accessible through the services on Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect, 2 games launchers. Now, 2 and a half years later, the title is also being released on Steam for free. The steam release is planned for February 2, 2023.

The title has been received as a soft reboot of the series, mimicking the creativity of Trackmania Nations Forever, a title from 2008.

Console ports for the title are also planned for later this year, although a specific date is yet to be confirmed. The list of port devices includes PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Amazon Luna.

Gameplay of Trackmania

The gameplay is fast-paced arcade racing, with predominantly sprint-type races across all surfaces and road types. It is not uncommon to drive 90° inclines, jumps and loopings.

Trackmania Esports

Interestingly, this game has a thriving scene of esports. From the release date until January 22, 2023, a total of $356,981.05 have been awarded as prize pools from 437 tournaments.

A big player in this regard is the official Trackmania Grand League World Cup, which happens yearly. In 2022, the prize pool of this event was a whopping $20,905.86, with the playoffs already granting prize money.

A Bit of Reminiscence

Trackmania holds a special place in my heart. Many hours of my youth went past chasing leaderboard records on Trackmania Nations Forever, the title this game is based on. I was young at the time and nowhere near competitive, but it was fun.

To be honest, I completely missed the release of this title, presumably because of the limited PC release. However, starting on February 2nd, you might see me on Trackmania races, trying my best from time to time.

The good thing about this game is you don't need a wheel to drive it, so that you can play it a bit in between. No need to get the whole rig running. Just grab your trusty controller and have a bit of competitive fun.

What are your thoughts on Trackmania? Have you played the game in the past few years, or are you looking forward to any of the upcoming ports? Let us know in the comments down below!

hehe looking fun.
I would probably try it out if the physics did look just a bit realistic.
I mean the cars could by garantee make the same funny "saltomosales" if the physics was even 1% realistic

Ive run this recently on the PC, well, on my laptop. Worked well as a pick up and play. Ive enjoyed most trackmania content since the original in 2003.

Was looking at the drama in getting it to run on a steamdeck, so this is a positive move.

Your link appears to be broken, it took me to an entirely different game.

Anyhow, it launched with a subscription service that they claimed wasn't a subscription service. It triggered everyones bullshit meter and the launch tanked.

The generall feeling was that they took a free to play game, made it worse, and then put it behind a paywall while telling the user base they just done something special for them.

No idea if they rejigged the system or the marketing.

No VR listed on the Steam page and I can't find any other reference to it, so I'm guessing no...
