2022 Plans Teased in Automobilista 2 December Dev Update

Automobilista 2 2022 Roadmap 01.jpg
Reiza Studios has released the December, 2021 development roadmap for Automobilista 2, which details updates for January and beyond.

Reiza's last development update of 2021 was a significant one. The team behind Automobilista 2 confirmed that some pending content is going to be delayed, explained why the release of some overdue content isn't imminent, and summarized their plans for the title through 2022.

For those who bought the Racin' USA DLC part 2 expecting to have Road America added before now, you'll have another month to wait, as Reiza plans to complete the DLC pack in the January end-of-month update. Likewise, those who have been hoping to drive vintage layouts of Nurburgring and Spa will need to wait a bit longer, as the tracks are now expected in the first quarter of 2022.

Reiza explained the delays in releasing content players were expecting as a "distinction between plans and commitments".

Owners of AMS2 can soon look forward to driving more Formula 1-inspired cars, as the title will soon receive the Formula Retro Gen 3, modeled after the 1983 F1 cars, will be released soon.

As far as the broader plans for the development of Automobilista 2 in 2022, Reiza noted "New cars from premium brands filling up existing classes as well as well as branching out to new ones, new tracks, historical tracks, further AI development, more multiplayer features, Steam achievements, full course yellows, oval racing, dirt racing and maybe the beginning of what should be a very elaborate career mode".

So, it would seem that big things are coming to AMS2 this calendar year, but a bit more patience will be required for now.

Is there anything mentioned in the dev update that you're looking forward to? Let us know in the comments.

Not mild, hard, muahaha ok Ams2 is a finished game and don't need to improve anything, that's why ACC has 2500 daily players online and Ams2 has 700, but for Trava is enough

So now I'm an AMS2 shill despite never even playing this game?
I think you forgot your meds , you should take them.

So you are telling your opinion about a game u never play? great man! and you think i forget my meds? try to use more tobacco on that cigarretes you made for yourself, next time try to play a game you at least know

In what is announced, what makes me want is driving on land, it was present in PC2 from which AMS2 is inspired, in much, much better, especially in terms of physics but even technical, for example VR works even better in AMS2.
So for driving on gravel on PC2 I had a good time controlling some cars in VR on the few circuits available, physics frankly better with some cars than in Dirt Rally 2 for example, despite the fact that we are talking about PC2.
In PC2 there was also the possibility of riding on snow and it would be Great to see that happen in AMS2. On all circuits where realistic weather conditions could allow it, for example a circuit in a hot country had no possible snow, for example Sonoma, on the other hand Spa Francorchamps had this possibility because in Belgium it snows in winter, the Nurburgring, the English circuits too , etc. and with the VW Golf for example it was the big step in VR! Few people have mentioned it because few have tried it I think. Also the two circuits on ice, magnificent in “controlled skidding” driving with the Golf still. I would love for Reiza to add this wonderful possibility. I pray !
AMS2 became my favorite sim quickly after its release, before I rode a lot on Assetto, which I still like a lot (VR And countless circuits and cars, especially since I only ride in VR and AMS2 is the best of very far VR question (Assetto is also good in VR but I prefer the physics of AMS2).
I find that the sensations are often great, but some cars are still terrible to drive, others (many) are magical and it is with them that I have fun.
AI isn't always great, but frankly, there's nothing to demolish it like some do!
However, in VR we still do not know how to adjust the mirrors, it is very heavy, especially since the graphics engine is the same as PC2 and in PC2 we could adjust the mirrors.
I'm also looking forward to the release of old Nurbur!
I speak very bad English, excuse the approximations.
Happy New Year everyone !

I still find Reiza's business model frustrating for offline racing. Every 3 months, they release a car or a track, or modify the physics of a car. It reduces the motivation to start a custom season. Do I start a GT1 or GTP season knowing that cars and tracks will be added in a month (I can't finish a season in a month, sorry)? Backfilling classes should be a good thing, but when its done at odd intervals it becomes a bit of a waste. Do I re-race a championship that I've already completed b/c a new car is now there? Do I re-start a season I'm in for that reason? Do I start a 1998 CART season knowing the '95 cars are forthcoming? (It makes no logical sense to me to do those 3 out of order...)

That this update states that 2022 "might see the beginnings of" the career mode is maddening. I am tired of physics demos. I want an "experience". A simulator these days can do more than put a car on a track. RRRE, iRacing, ACC, they all do the car "simulation" good enough. (At least, no ONE sim will ever please everyone) But the only software that simulates being a race car driver is the F1 series.

Would have preferred a tightly curated pack of content with rules and career progression as AMS2's draw. Even if the top level was StockCar Brasil. (Some have requested here the same.) I don't know how they're going to tie together all their disparate content into the most realistic career mode ever. Somehow, like Lewis Hamilton, I'll go from rental karts, to hot hatches, to '67 F1 cars, to 90's GT1s, to Formula 1! (with some dirt races in there also)

I blame the digital distribution model where games can be released half-baked on the promise of future fixes (and DLC).
I agree with you. Other than technical issues what you say is the biggest part of the iceberg. AMS2 has product design issue. And i'm afraid that at this point it's irreversible.

So i know im one of my recent posts I've been critical about Tire compounds being a bit mixed up and not working as they should. Also I posted about how the slip curve has suddenly got a bit weird again (grip dropping off in a slide but never regaining, resulting in total loss of grip and ending up in a full 180 passenger slide), for instance before recent updates I could properly drift the Camaro but now its back to having weird lateral grip issues again. Anyway as i've already stated (as have some of you who've experienced similar) im sure Reiza are alreay sorting this all out for next update.

Anyway criticism where criticism is due, but also praise where praise is due! So I wanna say a big thanks to Reiza for just one of the many improvements they've made.

Back in update 1.3.1.0 there was this line:

"Revised AI suspension parameters should minimise issues with AI potentially rolling or bouncing off high curbs on some tracks".

Now when I read this i got very excited as there is a certain historic track ive never been able to use with certain (usually low ground clearance) cars, and I love this version of the track and always wanted to have a race with the A.I and GT1's (as they're from the 90's and so is the track), and some of the 90's F1 cars, but it was impossible due to the raised curbs there and the A.I. cars problems with them, just ended up in a massive crash fest and loosing half the feild after the first two laps (as I like to race with full damage and 200% scaling). So I immediately booted up the track and cars after reading that line in the change log and was over the moon, because hey presto, they fixed it! I did make mention of this in a video about that update and said that at some point id have to run a full race there to celebrate!

Well, I finally got time to make that video! And I seriously enjoyed myself! So here it is, and Reiza, thankyou very, very much indeed, its made this simhead very happy indeed!:)

Third times a charm.... You'll see what I mean:whistle:

Cheers Reiza, nice one!;)

Agree at 100%. One of my best experiences in pcars2 was racing in a classic car on brands hatch rallycross (the same amazing track than in toca race driver 2!) covered by snow. Sliding around this track, which already has a great flow, has to be experienced.

thats life ;).
Some are driving simulators, some are crash simulators.
BTW, this loosing wheel and not updating after repair is an annoying bug.
Renator wrote, they are working on this, but didn't find the cause for this.
Ok, he is a wizzard, but if the SMS team couldn't repair it in 7 years, how should this small team do it by a fingersnip.
But i'm sure they will
