Who will win the Mexican Grand Prix?

Formula 1 moves south from Austin into Mexico this week for the 2022 Mexican Grand Prix.

An exciting race at the Circuit of the Americas last weekend has left fans with some hope that there is still some great racing to watch at the tail end of an F1 season that has been dominated by one team and one driver.

Max Verstappen has been confirmed as a two-time drivers' champion, and his Red Bull team have now officially locked up the constructors' championship.

Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez will be doing his absolute best to win at his home race in Mexico. Perez will need to find a way past Verstappen, who is on a quest to become the first F1 driver to ever win 14 races in a season.

Sebastian Vettel gave his fans something to remember in Austin. His F1 career will draw to a close at the end of this season, but the 4-time champion proved he still possesses greatness with a masterful final lap at COTA to claim a hard-fought 8th position in the race.

Another multiple time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, nearly kept his record streak of seasons with at least one win alive last weekend, but ended up settling for 2nd after being overtaken by Verstappen in the closing laps of the race.

Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is the highest circuit on the F1 calendar. At 2,200 meters above sea level, it sits nearly three times higher than the next highest circuit. This drastic elevation change could make for some interesting results in the race as the various teams’ aero packages based on the 2022 regulations are tested for the first time.

What are your predictions for the race? Let us know in the comments below and in the attached poll.

It should be a good race on Sunday with the high altitude at Mexico.
Less density affects everything...cars slip through the thinner air much faster but that also means less engine and brake cooling, etc...
Hopefully it won't be a race of high attrition.
I would be happy to see those other slow cars mix it up a bit.
Mercedes really built a 'dog' this year.
The additional 'loaded' surface down the side of the chassis as a result of the zero sidepod created too much downforce in those particular areas, to the point of overwhelming the suspension's compression limit.
That is why it porpoised so much in the early stages.
It would have been great IF they'd found a way to stall the underfloor just prior to suspension compression limit.
Adrian did it with the wiffle scalloped area along the edges slightly aft of the tea-tray and with a few cleverly placed notches slightly ahead of the trailing link pick-up points on the chassis floor.
In doing so, he was able to stall the air at the Center of pressure at maximum velocity resulting in zero bouncing.

Who is Toto,s spy? Forknowledge ?? :roflmao:

the Ferrari deal was in the backrooms of the FIA and we never hear what was wrong with the Ferarri engine. For sure merc are bad lossers again

i thought there was also a lady at the FIA who worked for the mercedes team in the past.. it stinks

yes i hope Perez will win this race
You seem to have selective memory.
Stefano Domenicali was Ferrari's team Principal.
Jean Todt was Ferrari's team Principal.
Both currently work for the FIA.
Move along....nothing to see here...
We're talking cars and 'The Mexican F1 Grand Prix'

Too bad both Lewis and George f**cked one of their laps in Q3. Hopefully they can deliver an exciting race tomorrow. I don't think Ferrari is in the mix tomorrow.

Yeah, they looked a bit Rusty on those laps. Maybe if in stead of a Merc, they drove an F1 911 ;)

Shaila-ann Rao, works for the FIA so you are wrong, we are indeed moving on.. nice pole Max

It's really good to have that clarification and affirmation from the FIA that the 2021 championship was won through rule-breaking.

It's one thing to suspect cheating, but another thing entirely to have it in writing from the governing body.
seeing as F1s "raison d'etre" is pushing the rules to find loopholes to exploit for a competitive advantage....this is all completely normal for the sport. It just stopped the longest boring winning streak in the sports history and some think that streak was "good" for the sport? LOL...I for one am extremely happy F1 is no longer the Mercedes cup, although the jury is out on whether or not RB can dominate the same (I hope not).

7 millions is peanuts for Red Bull. It isn't even close to Max's title bonus or to their 2022 profit. It would hurt Red Bull if the fine would go into the 2023 cost cap, but I understand it doesn't.

The restriction on wind tunnel is the only effective penalty. What actual impact it may have is another story. Ferrari is making the point that RedBull will spend elsewhere the wind tunnel budget that they are not allowed to use, which mitigates the negative impact of the restriction - to which extent nobody knows yet.
It was a very minor breach of the rules, I just don't "get" the pitchforks crowd wanting excessive penalties "because Red Bull". I'd say it balances out the pathetic penalty for Silverstone 2021. and goes nowhere near balancing out the 2014 rules and regs heavily favouring Mercedes.

How was I wrong again?
Did I question whether she worked for the FIA? No I did not.
I merely pointed out the fact that past team principals currently also work for the FIA.
You seem a bit triggered by anything to do with Mercedes and indeed, Lewis Hamilton.
Have you ever met him personally?
Did he steal your lunch money?
What's with your hatred?
You are always 'guaranteed' to jump on any subject remotely associated with any topic related to this guy.
You way want to talk to a therapist about that.

To be fair same could be said for LH fans with regards to Red Bull and Max. Overall there's too much toxicity from all angles and all directions in F1 right now...although if social media was a thing in Senna/Prost days I'd imagine it'd be the same.

How funny I don't need a therapist but probably the silver cars fans who started I believe Friday about the cheat champion all you do is turn things around.
Otherwise, read back before accusing someone ;)

Verstappen has already boycotted skysports this weekend. Justly!!!

Did you even read your previous post?

If that is not 'turning things around' then I don't know what is
this lady worked for mercedes
so what do you mean turn around?

maybe you should just forget about it and Max has rightly become champion. You as Mercedes fan boys just hang in there in 2021 season and it just keeps going and going, accept as it is

Lets see what first corner brings us, little afraid for the 2 Mercs behind Max. It wouldn’t be the first time this season that one the mercs destroys another drivers race in wheel to wheel situations. Fingers crossed

Red Bull sanctions of overcaming budget is joke. This is new line here now. So if we need to break rules in underdog situations, we will do it, because practically no sanctions. Max Verstappen won championship 2021 unfairfully by team and one steward. Not good sport.
In 2021 there were marginal gains from aero because the cars were at the last year of stable tech rules. The best way to gain (apart from taking out your rival's car ) was to skirt the cost-cap and better bigger benefits by abusing the engine rules to improve an already fastest engine by getting a wingman to test engines so Hamilton could use engines at full whack for the last few races. So don't kid us all that all teams are squaky clean apart from Red Bull. I'm just fed up to be honest with the hypocritical Hamilton fans keeping on bleating since AD21, a race where Ham shouldn't have been on equal points at the start when considering the whole season, starting with Bahrain and track limits abuse ignored by the race director. Hamilton fans need to just be quiet and move on.
