Welcome to the 2021 Formula One Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Time to get your predications and votes in and discuss the upcoming GP!

With the new year underway, the teams return to Imola for the 2021 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton won here at the unexpected but welcome event that featured on last year's calendar, after the track made itself available to help F1 host as full a season as possible. With Alonso returning to the sport, that makes two drivers on the grid that have won at Imola, albeit 15 years apart and on different layouts.

This classic circuit can be unforgiving, with plenty of gravel traps ready to catch drivers out. While it's a fairly small track by modern F1 standards, it features plenty of long radius medium speed corners. This should make for a good test of how the teams' new challengers are coping with less rear downforce than their predecessors. To aid overtaking, the DRS zone on the main straight has been extended by 60 metres.

Friday and Saturday should be dry, although with much colder weather than the teams experienced in Bahrain. It will be interesting to see whether the cooler conditions allow any of the teams to squeeze a few more horses from their new power units. More enticingly, current forecasts suggest a good chance that rain will affect Sunday's race. It's always fun to see which way teams go on setup when they don't get to experience representative conditions before race day, or more to the point, who gets it right and who does not!

After a battle that kept us on the edge of our seats in Bahrain, the thought of Hamilton and Verstappen resuming their championship fight around a rainy Imola is a very exciting one indeed. It's a difficult one to call between them, with both having already shown top form at race one. Perhaps a deciding factor could be whether Mercedes have gotten on top of their rear stability issues yet. If they are yet to do so, and Sunday is indeed affected by rain, then that could prove challenging for the Silver Arrows.

Let us know what you're looking forward to about this weekend, and don't forget to back your favourite for the win in our poll!

I sense a great disturbance in the forum...as if millions of voices suddenly cried out for rain and were suddenly silenced...by being granted their wish and now glued to the race :roflmao:

Not a very smart move from Lewis while trying to overtake (despite blue flag). Too aggressive move

That crash is absolute justification for them putting the chicane in at Tamburello. Imagine how that accident would have been without it.

Sergio, Sergio, Sergio what was I thinking? Lando Norris what a race, hope the team continues progressing to give this guy a chance of running up front.

Definitely Bottas' fault for running Russell wide...this is shaping up to be a classic.
Terrible weekend for Bottas, but yeah he really squeezed Russell who had DRS advantage and was quicker.
Should expect a veteran to know better.

What an exciting race, Lewis got mighty lucky with the red flag and free make up lap but he did have a terrific drive back to the front in challenging conditions. Also great to see a strong recovery from Lando and Ferrari being genuinely competitive again. I hope the whole season remains this exciting!
I disagree, handed to him on a platter. 8th rolling start to 2nd was easy for him given the pace the Mercedes has.
Bottas for all intents and purposes actually had some use at Mercedes GP this weekend after all.

What a snoozefest. I couldn't keep my eyes shut. F1 is so messed up. This is supposed to be my nap time and I am totally awake, watching an actual race. Boo hiss.

On the other hand, my own observations:

Lewis is a great driver, but I think he is fragile. He seems to really go to a dark place when things are not going well. Yes, he ended up second, but watching his body language before the restart and he was totally deflated.

George flinched. Yes Bottas moved right, but George freaked, he still had room.
Perez.........................................................
Yuki is not ready for coronation yet.

As is no secret I am a huge red bull fan, I would have enjoyed the championship impact of both Mercedes having a dnf. I am not a Lewis fan but I can fully appreciate the skill and reliability he produces when it matters. I don't see it as handed on a platter as Bottas was not able to simply drive through the field with the same car. But I respect your opinion on the matter.

Good race by verstappen and norris.
Bad one for Russell, what a limp-wristed tart smacking botass across the helmet, when it was their own fault. Race ban hopefully
