Introduction
What do you do when you're too tall to pilot a Porsche 356, but all your friends are driving one? You take the slightly larger sequel, put the same engine in it, and technically meet the minimum weight requirements after replacing all the glass with lexan and using a suspiciously heavy spare tire during scrutineering.

This is a 1968 Porsche 912 with a hopped up 1600cc flat 4 motor, classic 911R inspired body, and a light touch of outlaw Porsche style that Parts Obsolete is known for. It was built in the early 2000s. Yes, it's based on a specific resto-modded car. This skin corresponds to that car.

It handles like a classic narrow body Porsche - too much weight in the back, not enough traction. Use the throttle to prevent oversteer, brake early because when it's late, it's too late. Be wary of putting more negative camber on the front, it'll just provoke the oversteer.

Pairs well with the Alfa Romeo GTA. You'll need to limit the 912 to running Vintage tyres. I believe the Alfa's marginally faster in absolute terms but the 912 has a narrow-ratio gearbox that keeps it in the power band so it's good anywhere.

Installation
Open the 7zip file, drag and drop into assettocorsa/content/cars. The normal deal.
This mod requires the Custom Shaders Patch, ideally version 0.1.60 or newer.
Several physics fixes contained therein simplify production of trailing arm geometry cars, it'd be silly to work around them. I haven't tested down to lower versions as this is the latest recommended.

Credits
Stereo - model, textures, physics
mclarenf1papa - tires used with permission
Kunos - Porsche 718 soundbank, this engine is very similar. Driver animations from Porsche Carrera RSR.
67JTM, Andy-R - variety of period skins

Etc.
This is version 1.0. Has 2 LODs for balance of performance. As with some of my other projects this is a quick one, so it's not fully featured - the doors don't open, the interior focuses on dashboard detail and skimps on floormats. It's meant to be driven, not poked around at in a showroom.

Donations are appreciated but by no means expected.

Solid car, really nice to drive
Great car! Goes well against Kunos Alfa Romeo GTA, and Pessio's Mini Cooper Gr.2 App.K, specially on tracks like Goodwood.
Overall this is a nice car to drive, not too much of a learning cuvre to start with, but a proper 911/912 experience, and surprisingly rewarding with practice.
Unexpectedly became my try-first car for new of circuits and it's a really good car for some of the free-roam tracks if you enjoy chilling out.
I think I have spent more time in this car than any others since I downloaded it.
A user friendly Porsche that can still bite you if you get cheeky with it. Just like the real thing. 5 Stars.

After having my eyes checked, I realised this is a very good car. Thanks.
Ok....... So I wait quite a while before I purchase AC. Then a HUGE SALE on STEAM gets me in there so I get the whole enchilada . I have been a RL professional driver for over 35 years I have thousands of laps logged on tracks from all around the world. I started sim racing so I could help other drivers learn the tracks mentally and get the setup as close as possible...... with the virtual and the real being so closely simulated these days it's uncanny how it all comes together. This 911-12 FEELS just like the REAL thing. I have driven at Road Atlanta in several older race cars but I keep coming back to this classic Porsche it reminds me of being behind the wheel there. Thank you what a joy it is to have it on the PC now........I just wish it was in the shop outside.....getting ready to race again....but here will do..... :P Sincerely "918" a racer from the past......

Great and fun little car, tons of fun and I encourage you to try it!
The brakes are way too powerful though, 1800 Nm compared to the 1300 Nm of the Alfa or the 1000 Nm of the 718-RS. Doesn't seem like a realistic value, at least for a vintage car. However I get this is a more modern interpreation, so it might be that brakes are more powerful.
Also, note there's no windshield wiper. Seems like the real car doesn't have one either, however if you use rain from CSP you might get problems seeing where you're going (unless I am missing something).
Not the fastest one, but nice to drive. Great fun.
Very beautiful car look and drive. That rear view mirror is horrible in so nice car :)
Can't get CSP working. Does not matter, most beautiful race car to look at. Love the liveries too! 10/10
Pure joy! What a Car!!
Excellent
Fantastic mod. Race at TWS, time set to 8AM, the sunlight filters through the cockpit and shines on the gauge cluster....won't forget that anytime soon.
Excelente auto! Muy divertido de manejar en especial en tramos de ruta
What a car! absolutely joy to drive
so nice dude, very good job
thank you
What a great car! Thanks Stereo, looks fantastic. Reminds me of finishing my own 911.
1.1 (-------- Thank =)
really nice addition, model is great and is really nice to drive. stacks up nicely in VR, wouldn't guess it was a quick job. only minor niggles: lack of windscreen dirt means that windscreen shadows can be a bit harsh, and theres an extra dark patches in the corner of each footwell, driver eyes position might need to be reset, using "real mirrors" in VR by default the mirrors is angled towards the road rather than behind you. (ref the base car)
