Pacenote Map (& Video) Editor 22b

Pacenote editor with synced Map Trace and Stage-Recce Video.
Simply do a screen recording of a recce run through a stage, while also recording the recce using RaceTrack Data Acquisition (RDA) 1.7.

The editor displays:
  • The pacenotes
  • A map view of the road trace with pacenotes overlaid/annotated.
  • A video player of the recce recording.
Space bar to play/pause the video. When paused you can move back/foward through the notes editing them, and the map and video stay synced at all times.

Note this is still rough and dirty program, interface isn't pretty, and plotting is slow refresh rate, but is otherwise is fully functional for me. I've just used the synced map & video method to update the Sweet Lamb pacenotes, included in the downloader. (The original game distance calls are sometimes way off, probably only considering perfectly straight sections.)

Pacenotes in format to suit DiRTy Pacenotes (but you'd need to remove '@' characters from the pacenote file at the end, not yet supported in dirty pacenotes, I plan to mod it or fork it at some point in future).
Intended to work with Dirt Rally 2, but written in a genera way and can be used for any other pacenote editing if you can get a map trace and screen recording.

Generate stage map trace data from RaceTrack Data Acquisition (RDA) 1.7. Sample traces in folder for Wales/Sweet Lamb, and Argentina/El Rodeo.

Generate a recce run video recording using a screen recorder (I use OBS Studio as it's free). mkv H264 works, not tested other codecs yet, but the program uses ffpyplayer, which I believe uses ffmpeg so anything that supports should work?
You'll need to install ffmpeg also I believe.
Doesn't matter if the start of the video is you clicking around trying to get back to Dirt Rally; you can set the time at which the stage starts in the .inf file; refer Readme.txt

Some source pacenotes included in the zip are auto-converted from the ZTMZClub Pacenote Tool, which were mostly created via speech-recognition by the ZTMZClub people, some manually created; thanks to them for these.
If I get time to simplify the original pacenotes as I intend to then I'll make these available.

Please let me know of any bugs and I may be able to fix them, but equally I may also lose interest and never get back to this, so source code is shared on github, and in the download zip also.

If anyone wants to contribute map traces from RDA I'll happily include these in here.

If you like this mod and want to donate, please just donate to a local charity.

Very intuitive pacenotes editor, the call points on curve view make the pacenotes writing experience much more reasonable and convenient.
