easily one of the best addon-cars for RT - highly detailed and realistic

original readme:

The car that took Walter Röhrl to the drivers title in 1982. Based on the Ascona B model I made earlier but with so many changes that basically only the roof is the same. Developed for use with the TT Real Mod.

Installation:

Notice: Physics are developed for the TT Real Mod 2005. Install that
first for best result. The Ascona 400 will work without it, but
might behave strange.

1. Place the file "car_xx.bzf" that came in this package into the
following folder on your computer: "...\Rally Trophy\Data\Cars"

2. Go directly to step 3 if you are using the TT Real Mod.
If you have chosen NOT to install the TT Real Mod the global torque
multiplier in your game will be set to 1.3 unless you have changed
it yourself. To restrict the car to realistic speeds with it set
to 1.3 you also need to install a little fix like this:
2.1 Rename "car_16.bzf" to "car_16_backup.bzf".
2.2 Rename "car_xx.bzf" to "car_16.bzf".
2.3 Download and install the LATEST VERSION of BZFManager available
here:
http://www.no-grip.net/filedisplay.php?filenr=119
http://www.no-grip.net
http://www.bhmotorsports.com/RT/downloads/735
2.4 Double-click on "ascona400_v10_fix.rtp" and it will auto-install
itself.
2.5 Rename "car_16.bzf" back to "car_xx.bzf".
2.6 Rename "car_16_backup.bzf" back to "car_16.bzf".

3. Choose one of the cars (1-22) that you want to replace and either
delete it or rename it to "car_xx_backup.bzf" or similar. I recomend
just renaming as that makes it easy to restore things to how they
where before.

4. Rename "car_xx.bzf" to the exact name of the file you just deleted
or renamed in step 3.

Example: I want to install the Ascona 400 instead of car 10.
I place the file "car_xx.bzf" into "...\Rally Trophy\Data\Cars".
Then I rename "car_10.bzf" to "car_10_backup.bzf".
And finally I rename "car_xx.bzf" to "car_10.bzf".

5. Play the game!

History:

When making the Ascona B I kept in mind that I would probably convert it
to an Ascona 400 one day. It was hard finding detailed technical data of
the car and good quality pictures. Finally I found scanned homologation
papers of the car! They included gearbox ratios, basic engine data and
loads of other usefull information. The gearbox ratios could of course
differ on the car from event to event but the ones I have used are the
exact ones stated in the papers. The end gear ratio is also authentic and
if you tune the car with the sliders in the game you will get other real
ratios stated as allowed for use in the real car. The Ascona 400 won the
drivers world championship in 1982 driven by Walter Rhrl. It won several
events including the classic Monte Carlo but was eventually replaced by
the Opel Manta 400.

Technical data:

Max torque 292 Nm @ 5000 rpm
Max power 255 Hp @ 7000 rpm
Max rpm 8000 rpm
Weight 1050 Kg
Drive RWD
Gearbox 5-speed
Final drive 4.22 (5.28 - 4.75 - 4.22 - 3.89 - 3.67 in game)

0 - 150 Km/h (gravel) 13.0 s
100 - 0 Km/h (gravel) 3.1 s

0 - 100 Km/h (tarmac) 5.7 s
0 - 150 Km/h (tarmac) 10.4 s
100 - 0 Km/h (tarmac) 2.7 s

0 - 402 m (tarmac) 13.9 s
Top speed 203 km/h (default setting)

The standard Ascona 400 engine (2410cc, 4 cylinders, 16 valves, DOHC) had
144BHp @ 5200rpm and 210Nm @ 3800rpm. It was then developed by Cosworth
and Irmscher for rally use and became a relatively high-revving machine.
In the first rally trim (Group 4) it produced 240bhp @ 7000 and 275Nm @
5000. A nother source says 243bhp and 286Nm at same revs. The later Manta
400 Group B had a massive 275bhp taken from the same engine, only further
developed. The engine could be tuned to deliver even more power but to
the cost of drivability and, of course, important reliability. Very sharp
cams` meant it didn`t work well on low rpms. 2441cc was maximum allowed
bore in rally.
