LOTUS ELEVEN SKIN MOD V2.3

Small Update which tidies up the “Preview Numbers” to make them more aesthetically pleasing in Content Manager and changes one skin.

The body was designed by Frank Costin a leading aerodynamicist of the time from the aircraft industry.
The car has been tuned via coefficient of drag, to replicate the 132mph standard speed of the customer Lotus Eleven fitted with a Coventry-Climax 1100 engine. It also features the correct gearing from the original car and will reach about 138mph in a slipstream or down a hill. With its lithe handling it would destroy larger, heavier cars such as D-Type Jaguars around tight twisting circuits, particularly when fitted with the 1500cc engine.

In its first year of competition the Lotus Eleven accounted for more than 150 race wins worldwide, which was a stupendous result for a tiny manufacturer and was entirely a result of the quality of the car's design. The following year saw an Eleven fitted with a 750cc engine win the prestigious Index of Performance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Elevens also finished first, second and fourth in the 1100cc class. In 1958, the final year of the Lotus Eleven’s production, the cars made a clean sweep of their class at Sebring.

The North American market was always a big part of Colin Chapman’s vision for Lotus cars. This mod includes both Jay Chamberlain, the distributor for Lotus cars in the States and Jack Nethercutt, another of the top US circuit racers of the time.

Tiny update which removes the “transmission loss suspiciously low” message in Content Manager.

In its first year of competition the Lotus Eleven accounted for more than 150 race wins worldwide.

Full list of drivers includes: Mike Hawthorn, Carol Shelby, Richard Attwood, Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill, Jim Clark, Roy Salvadori, Ron Flockhart, Mac Fraser (first driver to be killed in a Lotus), David Piper, Colin Chapman (who raced his own cars in the 1950s)

Plus: Stirling Moss (driving for Rob Walker), Maston Gregory, Jack Nethercutt, Innes Ireland, Mike Hailwood, Mike Anthony (original Team Lotus driver), Jay Chamberlain, and top British club racers of the time: Keith Hall, Cliff Alison, Tony Ellis and Reg Bicknell, Steve McQueen.

Mike Hailwood was only the second driver to win World titles on motorcycles and championship points in F1 after the legendary John Surtees. He also raced F1 and World Championship motorcycling IN THE SAME YEAR in 1963 and still won the 500cc Motorcycle World Championship - an unparalleled achievement! Like a lot of drivers he cut his racing teeth in a Lotus Eleven during the mid to late fifties. His motto was “For Love of the Sport” often emblazoned on his cars and helmets.
