LEGALITY
========
As far as I can tell the LEGO 3D models are 'free / open source'.
This is just a bit of holidays fun, perhaps in this crazy lockdown time giving
you a few hours of joy. If I should be locked up for infringing all sorts
of things, let me know.

LEGO Technic 8865 "Test Car" for AMS Readme, December 22, 2020, v1.0
==============================================================================
It is called a 'Readme' for a reason..

INTRO
=====
Hi, or should I say HoHoHo. This is the amazing 1988 Lego Technic supercar,
faithfully reproduced in Automobilista. Thanks a bunch to Dave and Sandro for
bringing the 3D model into the game!

Not only does it LOOK like the real thing, it also kinda drives like the real
thing, scaled up 8x so it becomes 'full size'. Real data was measured:
- Total weights
- Weight distribution
- Center of gravity height
- Unsprung weights
- Suspension Geometry
- Suspension rates (with a lack of dampers..)
- Gear ratios
- Engine capacity..

So it kinda drives the way it does (semi poorly) and feels the way it does
(not great with very poor FFB) because of the real data! I.e. don't blame me.
Actually its great fun because of this 'character'!

Sounds are poor, but actual recordings of the LEGO engine!
Another 100% faithful and accurate release by Niels Heusinkveld....

INSTALLATION
============
- Unzip in your main AMS folder (steam/common/Automobilista )
- Add these lines to the bottom of your RealFeelPlugin.INI:
[LEGO]
MaxForceAtSteeringRack=1500.000000
SteeringDamper=11500.000000
FFBMixerRealFeelPercent=100.000000
FrontGripEffect=0.000000
SmoothingLevel=9
Kf=6000.000000
Ks=5.000000
A=1.000000
Kr=7.000000

- Select the obvious LEGO mod on the main menu (second page)
- Now HOHOHO into the nearest tree! Enjoy..
- Instal the 'snow tire' option in the car setup for a more realistic experience
on the Buskerud Ice track.

====================================================================
ADD OR REMOVE SUSPENSION ANIMATION (UP TO 6X FPS COST WHEN ENABLED!)
====================================================================
In the Steam/common/Automobilista/Gamedata/Vehicles/LEGO_Test_Car folder
you will find two BAT files:
- Install_Moving_Susp.bat
- Install_Static_Susp.bat

Moving suspension looks great in replays but EATS framerate because the old
engine has to stretch the high poly suspension models inefficiently. I go from
100fps to 600fps here in TV cam when I remove the moving suspension!

My advice is to set it static when driving, so you should have no problem getting 144+
FPS. Then if you want to admire stored replays, install the moving suspension and enjoy
the eye candy and dynamic suspension movement. Don't forget to put the static suspension
back on before driving again.

============
LIMITATIONS
============
- AI probably can't drive
- The high poly count means you can't race online, you run out of memory with less than 5 cars.
- Its a bit of offline single player fun only!

PHYSICS QUIRKS AND FEATURES
===========================
The force feedback feels fine near the center. But as soon as tire slip angles get to the point
where you actually have some grip, most of the feel will be gone. As there is on caster angle
and no suspension trail, all you feel in cornering is the tire pneumatic trail, which is mostly
gone by the time the tires generate optimum grip.
There is quite a bit of scrub radius however, so you will encounter plenty of weird jolts as you
go over bumps and kerbs, or steer quickly. Its all part of the realism.

The open differential will make you leave clouds of smoke on the inside rear tire, so don't mistake
the sound of revs with actual speed.

Only second and third gear are .. usable.. The enourmous gap between 2nd and 3rd is realistic.

The short wheelbase makes the car very pointy and sensitive to back and forth weight transfer.
Learn to balance the car with brakes and throttle AND steering and you can have a wonderful time!
