Indianapolis GP facelift extension 0.96

This is a facelift extension for aa_ims 2.0 by Damone - it doesn't contain the original track. Simply copy over the content of the folder.

Changes:
- 95% of spectators have been replaced with optimized and better looking 2D crowds.
- grass, tarmac, curbs and various buildings have been re-shaded for more realistic look
- sponsor banners and flags are added - now Indianopolis feels more like it is the biggest sporting venue in the world!
- working TV displays
- misc smaller tweaks, like bigger brake markers at Turn-1
- extension is modular and you can turn-off individual components, like spectator crowds, TV displays or sponsor banners

I have tested the extension mostly with indy_gp layout used in NTT Indycar series, which is my favorite layout to race on. But it should work well with other layouts (except spectators are are mostly around GP layout)

My extension wouldn't be possible without all the amazing work done by multiple very talented individuals.
Special thanks to Gunnar333 for his animated spectator flags!
If you want to re-use any of the (original) textures, models or shader settings from this extension - I have no objections whatsoever.

Any chance you could add lights for night racing? Even if it was only for the indy_gp layout it would be awesome for endurance racing!

Absolutely fantastic! Many months ago I had actually deleted this track because it was outdated. With this new update it has entirely revived the track and made it my main Indy version. Many thanks

Hi, great job,

I had to modify the following lines inside "grass_and_track.ini"
RESOURCE_FILE_1 = textures.zip::asph-mask_vk2.dds
RESOURCE_FILE_2 = aspalt_light_detail_vk.dds
to match the names of the DDS files inside "Testure.zip"

and uncompress "aspalt_light_detail_vk.dds" otherwise I get black asphalt

Fixed in v0.96! Sorry you had to do all that - don't know how I've overlooked that.. and why I got so many good reviews actually. This community is way too friendly ;)
I've been away from modding many months so i jsut found this today, I want to say wow beauitifl and amazing job I was burnt with all changes and layouts so I didn't took time to make it more eye candy so thank you this is a very nice addition to the track. Hope you can touch more conversions I made, cheers!

So nice to hear this from you Damone13x! If you want to re-release indy as 2.1 version with some of my textures/changes baked-in - I would be honored! I don't like the fragmentation of track mods, especially since it is very hard to add extensions on top of existing extensions.

This is update is very good. Actually I have a little issue with the 2.0 version of this track which is the curbs. The curbs slows the car drastically. I could not find any information about this but when I touch the curbs (I tried a lot of cars from road to F1) it slows the car rapdidly like the Codemasters conversion tracks when you drive off to the crash zones.

Thanks for your review and 5 stars! I havened touched physics of the track, as this extension should be compatible for online competitions with the base track. But you try to make adjustments to /data/surfaces.ini file to your liking, based on other tracks (I believe damping=0.05 might be responsible for it)

A suggestion, the billboard above on start/finishing line is only one side, if another side could be added, it will be better.

wow, I am surprised you've noticed. I didn't do it since I thought no one would care. And more generally don't like to add polys that are not visible - 2 triangles of course would not make an FPS difference. I might consider it in case I'll do an update. Thanks for the review

Amazing work, it would have been perfect if you have added the features i implemented for the 13X - AA version with the lights and so on.

Don't know if Damone had implemented in his release or not, in any case, feel free to ask if you want the full update in order to implement yours with a fully working config ;)

Thanks! Since it's only the extension- should work in online racing too. I use it a lot with RSS Indy 2020. But its not working well with VRC Indy 2018 - stutters like crazy (even without the extension).
