Some minor mistakes might still be present since there is an incredible amount of work to check, so if you find anything, please notify me so this can be fixed.
This career is heavily modified and while most mods are free, some paymods are required (total cost ~40EUR).
I have no partnership with these mods/modders but they have been chosen because they are amongst the best out there, or there are simply no other mods that fill that space.
Links to ALL mods will be provided in the "carlinks.txt" and "tracklinks.txt".
Please consider making a small donation I've put a lot of work into this, somewhere around 350-400 hours, so any contribution would be greatly appreciated!
This is a very long career. There are a total of 30 series and ~340 race weekends and essentially as many hours of racing (yes, excluding practice/qualifying). Some events are obviously going to be harder than others but I encourage you to try and treat it like you would real life.
Starting over just to finish 1st in every race is not why this project was created, even though the AI won't be too much of a problem if you are a very quick driver, even at 110%.
If you take this career seriously, there is no doubt in my mind that you will come out as a better driver, no matter what your skill level is since you are going to drive a lot of different car and track combos that you might not have done otherwise.
Some tips:
- Content Manager changes the appearance of the career based off of screen resolution. This version is for 1440p, so for 1080p/4k, you got to change the name of each series (and the series required to unlock it), if you want a layout that is similiar. 1080p only has 4 series vertically compared to 6 for 1440p (and I'm guessing 8 for 4k).
- Included are three pitlane fixes (Circuit Bugatti, Hockenheim Short and Kartodromo Manizales) as well as a slight improvement to the AI for Turn 1 @ Road Atlanta in a couple of series (if you are running 110% AI atleast...). Just copy them over to the track folder.
- The series are not 1:1 replicas of real life. They are very similiar but slight changes are present in every series, so if you want an exact replica of a particular series, feel free to change it.
- If the AI is crashing too much in LMP2/1, consider reducing the field to 30 drivers (10 per class) or just removing one whole class. This will make for cleaner racing as well as opening up the possibility of using more circuits.
- The stock car is pretty powerful for an entry level series, so be aware or change the power output to something lower if needed. Guides are on the web.
- For extra immersion, use one of your favourite liveries or liveries from your favourite team for all the series, with the addition of you own name and number!
- Not all AI are perfect, for example: In the multi-class series the AI will obviously not behave as well as a human when it comes to overtaking the slower cars and therefore be slower than a human would or even worse at times, crash. These things are out of my control unfortunately but I've done my best to make it as good as I can from my side.
- Also worth mentioning regarding the multi-class and all "duration" based series: The AI can't handle duration during races, which has created the issue of "how many laps does it take to drive 2 hours with traffic?". This is literally impossible to get right since everyone has different pace and deals with traffic different etc. I have done my best to get as close as possible to these durations, and the numbers have been a kind of mix-up between online-leaderboards and AI-times as well as some estimations, since I haven't had the time to run full scale simulation for all events. If you are a quick driver, you might want to add a couple of laps in some of the longer series to get closer to the intended duration, and obviously vice versa if you know you are a little slower.
If you wish to change anything, no matter if it's the car AI are driving, the tracks, time, weather etc, a small guide has been provided to help you with some of the most common things.
This has been done so that you can form your own career mode. So if you do not like this version, you can just use it as a framework for your own career.
Please do not redistribute this project other than linking to this exact page.
I've put a lot of work into this with everything from doing research on what series to use, what mods to use, creating real and fake drivers, making nations flags work for the AI, creating texts to all series/events, duration series converted to lap times etc.
Please read through this short introduction, it won't take long.
How It Works
There are six tiers and five different categories. You start off in gokarts (tier 6) and after completing them (they are very short), you move on to tier 5, where the real motorsports career starts and you can choose your path.
Please do not judge this mod based off of the initial kart-series.
They are pretty bad but only there to show that we can create a motorsports career from start to finish and they are quite fun to drive even though the competition isn't the best.
On all kart tracks apart from Valencia the AI seems to behave weirdly, unless you start from the back. So just run the practice session twice and then skip qualifying to make sure you start from the back, and the AI should atleast get away eventually.
After karting there are four categories to choose from: Touring, GT, Endurance and Formula and each have their own system, where tier 5 unlocks tier 4 and so on.
Every series have been chosen to give some sort of step-up in difficulty and cars that are faster than the previous series, while still keeping it high quality, realistic and immersive, as well as fun.
There are more categories and series out there but I thought these would be the best for these purposes.
With each tier the series and races becomes longer, the cars faster and the AI better. For some categories this has been a difficult challenge, for example:
Touring cars are pretty evenly matched in power and grip but I have done my best to give each tier a little step up. It might not totally represent the real steps of motorsports, but compromises had to be made.
Installation
1. Read through the introduction, it will guide you to all the things that are neccessary for you to run this mod. If it doesn't, feel free to hit me up
2. BACKUP your old career folder, found in (...steamapps/common/assettocorsa/content) and save it in another folder/harddrive.
3. DELETE your career folder, found in (...steamapps/common/assettocorsa/content)
4. DELETE your career history, "career.ini" and "career.ini.backup", found in (.../Documents/Assetto Corsa/launcherdata/filestore)
5. Copy the new career folder and place it in (...steamapps/common/assettocorsa/content)
6. Download the mods that are required and install them as any other mod. Make sure to use the links provided instead of searching for them on your own, since this will cause errors if you manage to get another version.
7. If you are using Content Manager, please use the button "Start" at the bottom of your screen in the "Career" interface, rather than double clicking each series, since this might make you miss the introduction text.
8. Enjoy!
Don't get me wrong, it's in your right to do so, but when I have put ~400hours in and reviews are essentially the only reward I get (only received 2 donations), and the review is based off of 1 series basically, it kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth, even though the mod as a whole technically can deserve a 3-star rating.
Here is a video of 5 laps I did today to show how it is very possible to achieve a better time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KT6cMEbwUEk
Full session is recorded, where the best (and last) lap is 55.8, inside 5 laps and no setup a part from just slightly adjusted rear tire pressures. I am more than happy to help you get faster, either for just this event or in general, or making the challenge easier (can be done in 30 seconds to accommodate your speed), just contact me in PM next time :)
