- small physics change to fix somthing I forgot to do, this will make the car just a touch slower on faster tracks.
If you already have Version 2.0 than you can simpley install the 2.1 patch, rather than dowloading the whole mod again

NOTE:
This version of the BMW 2800CS is not compatible with any of the earlier versions of the mod except Version2.0 so you must remove any earlier version of the mod before installing this.
To do so, navigate to C:\GTL\GameData\Teams\GTC-TC-76
And remove or delete the “BMW 2800CS” folder.
To install Version 2.1 unzip this download to your favorite unzip spot and place the GameData folder in your GTL root

What started out as a simple file rename and clean up, has gotten totally out of hand with great results and has become BMW 2800CS Version 2.1
Version 2.0 is almost a complete rebuild of the car body.
New meshes
New textures (inside and out)
New spoilers
New wheels BBS, Alpina, Schnitzer.
New working driving lights
Just to name a few of the things that have changed.
All of this fantastic work on the update was done by Scyrion who spent many hours and took a brake from building his upcoming Scirocco for GTL to do it.
He has also made a very nice painting template.
I can not say enough about the quality of his work.
Scryion will release the template and all instructions on it, and how to use the new genstring within a day or so.
Please feel free to paint and upload any new cars for the mod.
There are also some small changes to the Physics.
Overall the feel of the car is very much the same, but it is capable of slightly faster lap times, and is a little less forgiving when you over step the limit.
The front has a bit more grip than it did before.
Also the gearing is slightly different due a change in the overall tire diameter.
Any set up you had for the old version will still be about right other than you will need to reset your final drive and or gearing.
And if it feels a bit loose a click stiffer on the front bar and/or front spring should bring it back.
Every car included in this version is a reproduction of a real Group2 BMW 2800CS
Most of them painted by Ed who worked very hard to make each of them as close to the real car as was possible with the photos available.
With the exception of cars # 66, #8, and #56 which were painted by the man himself Scyrion.
Almost every car here is from the 1972 season. But there are a couple from 70, and 71.
Ed is also working on more cars from the 70 and 71 seasons and he will be uploading them at NoGrip from time to time
Also there are new sounds for the car, which up to now has just used the standard CSL sounds from GTL

I reworked them to be a bit less aggressive in an attempt to make them better fit the old 2800cs

Notes on the real BMW 2800CS:
The 2800CS race cars never really could challenge the 2600 Capri’s for the title in the early Days of the 1970s Group 2 championship,
while they had good power and a more sophisticated chassis they suffered from being over weight compared to the much lighter Capri 2600
A situation not rectified until the 2800CS was replaced by the CS Lightweight in 1973 more commonly referred to as simply the CSL.
The physics here are inspired by that final year of the 2800CS, 1972.
By 72 work had already been done to try to lighten the car as well as having the use of 3.0 engines and the 5-speed gearbox.
It is still some 400+ pounds heaver than the 2600 Capri and does not have the down force generating bodywork and rear wing,
which would help the CSL win the championship the next year.
It does have a power advantage over the Capri, which helps off set the weight to some extent, and is more forgiving than its ford rival.
I have given the car the benefit of the doubt, and tried to keep it as close as possible to the performance of the Capri 2600 with out being faster,
while staying as true as possible to the 1972 specifications.

Zur Deinstallation einer früheren Version öffnet den Ordner C: \ GTL \ Gamedata \ Teams \ GTC-TC-76
und löscht dort den Ordner "BMW 2800CS"
Um die Version 2.1 zu installieren entpackt dieses Archiv an einen beliebigen Ort und kopiert den Ordner "Gamedata" in euer GTL Verzeichnis (z.B. C:\GTL)

Was als einfaches Umbennen von Dateien und Aufräumen von Ordnerstrukturen begann, entwickelte plötzlich eine Eigendynamik und das Ergebnis ist der BMW 2800CS Version 2.0.
Version 2.0 beinhaltet eine fast vollständig neue Karosserie.

Neue Texturen (innen und außen)
Neue Spoiler
Neue Räder BBS, Alpina, Schnitzer
Funktionierende Beleuchtung
um nur einige der enthaltenen Verbesserungen zu nennen.
All diese fantastischen Verbesserungen am Update stammen von Scyrion, der dafür die Arbeiten an seinem Scirocco unterbrach.
Ebenfalls von ihm stammt das sehr schöne Painting Template welches in Kürze zusammen mit einer genauen Beschreibung des Genstring veröffentlicht wird.
Wir freuen uns sehr auf neue Fahrzeuge, die damit nun für den BMW 2800CS erstelt werden können.
Auch an der Physik wurden einige kleine Verbesserungen vorgenommen.
Im Gesamteindruck ist das Fahrgefühl unverändert geblieben. Jedoch sind jetzt etwas schnellere Rundenzeiten möglich und der Wagen verzeiht es nicht mehr so leicht, wenn ihr ihn über das Limit bewegt.
Er hat nun etwas mehr Grip auf der Vorderachse.
Die Gänge wurden neu angepaßt aufgrund einer geänderten Reifengröße.
Bisherige Setups sollten nach wie vor verwendbar sein - eventuell müssen die Gänge neu angepaßt werden.
Und falls er sich nun etwas "schwammig" anfühlt, bringt ihn ein etwas steiferer Frontstabi und/oder Federn wieder zurück auf das gewohnte Niveau.
Jeder Wagen der Version 2.0 ist eine Reproduktion eines realen Gruppe 2 BMW 2800CS.
Die meisten wurden von Ed erstellt, der hart daran gearbeitet hat, jedes der Fahrzeuge, soweit es das verfügbare Bildmaterial zuließ, so nah wie möglich an das Original zu bringen.
Die Wagen Nr. 8, Nr. 56 und Nr. 66 wurden von Scyrion erstellt.
Nahezu jeder Wagen in der Mod stammt aus der Saison 1972 und einige wenige aus den Jahren 70 und 71.
Ed arbeitet bereits an weiteren Wagen der Jahre 70 und 71 und wird diese von Zeit zu Zeit auf nogrip.com zur Verfügung stellen.
Ebenfalls neu ist der Sound für den BMW 2800CS, der bisher den Standard CSL Sound aus GTL benutzte.
Ein großes Dankeschön an Czork, der mir gestattete Samples vom BMW "Big 6" aus seinem BMW M1 Sound Addon für GTR2 zu benutzen. Ich habe versucht, die Sounds etwas weniger aggressiv zu gestalten, damit sie besser dem Charakter des alten 2800CS entsprechen.

Die 2800CS Rennwagen konnten den 2600 Capris in den frühen Tagen der 1970er Meisterschaften in der Gruppe 2 niemals wirklich das Wasser reichen. Obwohl sie stärker motorisiert waren und über das fortschrittlichere Chassis verfügten, litten sie unter einem deutlich überhöhten Gewicht im Vergleich zu den leichten Capris. Ein Manko, das erst 1973 mit dem Austausch des 2800CS durch den CS Lightweight, besser bekannt als CSL, korrigiert wurde. Die vorliegende Physik ist inspiriert vom letzten Jahr des 2800CS, dem Jahr 1972. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt waren bereits Anstrengungen unternommen worden, den Wagen leichter zu machen und ihn mit einem 3 Liter Motor und 5-Gang-Getrieben auszustatten. Trotzdem ist der Wagen immer noch gut 200 kg schwerer und verfügt über keine Anpressdruck erzeugende Chassis und Heckflügel, die es dem CSL im darauffolgenden Jahr 1973 ermöglichen sollten, die Meisterschafft zu erringen. Der 2800CS verfügt allerdings über mehr Motorleistung als der Capri, die den Gewichtsnachteil bis zu einem gewissen Grad wieder aufhebt. Darüber hinaus ist der BMW gutmütiger als sein Rivale von Ford. Ich habe den Wagen so nah wie möglich (ohne schneller zu sein) an die Leistung des Capri 2600 angeglichen und gleichzeitig versucht, so viel wie möglich der Spezifikationen von 1972 beizubehalten.
