Archie Thompson scored 13 of those.

That is why we are no longer in Oceania. Plus it give New Zealand and others a chance at the Confederations Cup, like Tahiti last year. And we get stronger opponents.

Now you don't have Archie Thompson for the national team, so you wouldn't win 31-0 (only 18-0 ) Plus you technically gain automatic passage to the World Cup Play-Offs at least in the OFC and always get Confederations Cup. And most importantly, Australia is in Oceania lol

Ah not quite, see we always won Oceania, but we often had to play against the 5th South American team (Uruguay twice), or a similar ranked team in a different conferece. It was hardly an automatic qualification.
And lets face it, when you can either do well at the World Cup, or simply qualify for the Confederations, I know I would choose the World Cup.
