While racing Overlay disappears shortly and game freezes shortly

I never had any problems with RaceRoom before of my system, but I have switched to a GTX1080 and a 43" 4K monitor and I now have a weird issue with the game.

Framerates are top notch, but while racing at random times the overlay with the position and times vanish for a short while and then the game freezes shortly afterwards for a short time.
The overlay comes back and the game stutters for a bit and returns to normal performance until the next instance of the issue above.
It's really annoying and frankly makes the game unplayable.
Does anyone experience this as well and do you know about a fix?

can say ive had or heard of this issue, is it a 3rd party overlay or the ingame ?

A few trouble shooting thoughts
Your ingame screen resolution is set to match your tv ?
try running a integrity chache file check in the steam options

if those dont solve it or no one can give you any tips to straighten it out ill submit a bug report

No its not third party. It's the default in-game overlay.
It seems to be gone when I turn off Fullscreen in the graphics options...

We've had overlay problems in club races after the big update, racers vanishing or out of place. Once I was in the lead so we all knew something was very wrong.
