Week 3: Seriously Not Serious Club Escort V8 Challenge 2009 @ Fuji 1970

That's is based on Abdul's idea from here. I will update the first post with everyone's laptimes. Round 1 closes on Sunday The server is set with 7hours of qualies.

Password: usual club password.

Cars: Escort V8 Challenge 2009
Track: Fuji 1970[download]
Weather: Damped track

Basic rules:

• Whoever is the fastest at the end of the week picks a car to run for the following week
• Whoever finishes last picks the track for the following week.
• The 10th fastest decides the weather (dy, 10% rain, 30% rain ,etc...)
• The same person can't pick the track/car 3 weeks in a row. In the case that occurs, the 2nd line will choose the mod
• Tracks and mods have to be either game default or located in RD's download section

Managed a 1:29:xxx...I need to figure out how to edit my deadzone for my controller. Car(s) is too twitchy in the turns which is definitely costing me some speed.

1.27.5 fastest for now, I can easily get 1.26, but 1.25's or even 1:24's seems impossible for me.
What are the best tires for damp conditions?

Only get a choice of slicks in damp conditions, which is interesting to say the least...lots of sideways moments...

One thing i do hate on this track is that tyre wall on the exit of the last turn. If you run wide on there, you're lucky to stop in time before you go smashing into the wall, thus ruining not only that lap, but you also have to go back to the pits, do an outlap before you can start another flying lap. I've done about 5 flying laps, but about 20 million other laps just on an outlap or crashing out into those tyres.

You should be able to choose intermediate, wet, and soft wet.

Great fun! Ran a few laps last night but would like to beat 1.30 by the end of the week... Started off on intermediates but instantly gained a second switching to medium slicks is that a good choice? Also couldn't seem to change the gearing so was definitely losing time on the straight - anyone else find this problem?

I was able to do a low 1:25 atm and i used intermidiates. I think in my first short try out yesterday the slicks seemed to be more slippery. But i'll try again with my better setup now.

The gear box isn't adjustable for this car! But i think it's ok for the track...

btw: Is there any difference between the three Escorts?

btw: for a long time i didn't watch my replays, but i remember in the past every hotlap was captured well.
Now i wanted to watch and save (rename) my fastest lap for Zolder and Fuji70, but it only shows me some seconds in the pits!:freaked-out:

I know that many others had this problem in the past, but never me! Why now? Any suggestions?

Got down to a 1:29:211 with wet tires. If someone (who has a better lap than me) wants to post their setup online, feel free to do so I'm basically using default with wet tires and a 22 degree steering.

Finally got down into the 28's with a 1:28:902...that was on wet tires. If i try slicks, I'm crazy loose and can't carry as much speed through the turns...I don't get it
