Now the V-WTCC site is closed for public and the videos on the site are no longer available for download I decided to upload them all to our youtube channel and post them here in a thread so they are stored for later.

For those that are not familiar with the V-WTCC. Yoeri Gijsen and I organised this world championship last year for SimBin/Eurosport.

It was a global competition where every driver in the world that had RACE 07 / GTR Evolution installed, could compete on the v-wtcc leaderboards by setting the fastest laptimes, after which the top drivers did a shootout during an online race, and only the world's best drivers managed to qualify for those events. The winners of the online races were invited to the real WTCC tracks in Europe where they fought harsh battle onsite to try and qualify for the big final in Monza, Italy where the world champion would be crowned and became owner of a brand new car: the Chevrolet HHR.

On the 6th of october 2008 Roland Ehnström from Sweden managed to grab the title with Bastien Bartsch from France and Markus Könönen from Finland joined him on the podium.

    Semi-Final 1 @ Valencia, Spain

    Semi-Final 2 @ Brno, Czech Republic

    Semi-Final 3 @ Brands Hatch, England

    Semi-Final 4 @ Oschersleben, Germany

    Semi-Final 5 @ Mantorp, Sweden

The Grand Final @ Monza, Italy

Was a great championship and a step further in simracing, despite unfortunately we don't have V-WTCC this year, after this champ simracing is in a higher level.

Lots of familiar names there in the top 15 (and also a lot of Germans :))

Wow a great organization. The Simracing is getting important and famous day by day. Perhaps in future will be known and important as the real motorsports :)
  6. followed it closely, knew many of the German chaps from my old community "Virtual Racing eV" and what fun to see Yoeri on Eurosport (and two Blue Flaggers as well, Kent and Mikael :) )

The Blue Flag team were one of those volunteers (together with Ingemar and Hansi) that made the Mantorp round run smooth. We couldnt have done it without them!
  8. Truly that was the greatest simracing championship ever devised. I have good memories of going onto the ranking servers as my public alias, holdenss06, and testing my mettle. I clearly remember getting into the top 50 times at Brno... :D

These are very high quality movies, good to see them preserved here.
Looks like a very well organised series and a really interesting concept to promote both real life and virtual racing. :party2:
  10. That was a great series of events Bram. Is there any possibility of another V-WTCC season in the future?

    Thanks for preserving the videos.

  12. Great event. Hope we can have one more soon..... I managed to qualify to valencia semi-final but I could not travel.... But it was a really nice event!!!!
  13. Ah so you were the guy from Brazil! :D

The V-WTCC was a lot of fun. There were obviously some small errors due to it being the first year on that scale. But there was a lot of potential. Too bad to not see a second year.

Very strong pace in the WTCC's as I see. You're having a great season in the brazilian leagues. Grats for that!!!

I already overtook Gabriel twice!!! HAHAHA. Take that, Gabriel!!!! Kidding!!! He had 60kg extra on his car...
