Upgrade Path VR Advice Needed.

Hi, in the new year I;m looking to upgrade the from:

R5 3600;
5700XT;
Lenovo Explorer.

For the headset I'm going G2, but for the CPU I've no idea what would be the best initial upgrade; CPU to R7 5800 or GPU to RX 6XXX.

Any ideas which of those (CPU or GPU) would give the best bang-for-buck improvement to VR?

Would this still be the case in RR3, with RR3 being DX9/CPU bound?
Probably, because rendering high resolutions in an HMD at racing speeds is still the main factor. R3E is just more CPU bound that most other sims, not totally bound by it. Besides, if you go CPU first then you're hamstringing your rig when it comes to most other games/sims that aren't as CPU-reliant. So bang-for-buck, GPU is still the best overall option to do first.

I was running an RX580 and had quite a lot of stuff turned down (in most sims tbh), swapped for a 1080 and was able to get it looking a lot more 'real' whilst also running shadows on low. Got a 3060ti after the 1080 died and I've not touched any graphics setting yet but it's definitely smoother.

CPU upgrade will be next though as I'm bottlenecking the GPU! Round and round it goes! £££
