F1 2010 Tyre change from dry to intermediate not done

I just drove Valencia and it started to rain. So i drove into the pits and they supplied me with the option tyre. I drove out and a couple of laps later i was summoned the change my tyres to intermediates. I responded to that and strange enough i was sent out on dry tyres again.
How can you interfere in which tyres are fixed during a pit stop?

you need to change the tyres by pressing 1-4 press 3 for tyres and 1=option 2= prime 3=inters 4=wets I may be wrong on he order of 1 and 2 but you get the jist.
