Track Designing Competition

Here's something different.

The Isle of Bute in Scotland (Search on gmaps for Rothesay) want to host a rally stage. So you must design a stage anywhere on the island.

Rules: This is a point-to point stage. There must be a distinguishable road or track that the cars go along, you cannot just wiggle though green fields. The stage must be between 10 and 25 kilometres .

I will give this a try later today ;)

OK, here's my challenge:

The only purpose-built track still in use in the Adelaide region is Mallala Motorsport Park (there is also Adelaide International Raceway, but it is not used as a circuit anymore). It is a fantastic, fun little circuit that I really enjoy, however at 2.6km it is very short and in general it is in need of an upgrade. So, the challenge is to overhaul the circuit. For reference, here is the the track as it currently is: www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6247526

Rules/Requirements:
  • The new track must be 4.0-6.5km long
  • The new circuit must have a pit lane on the start/finish straight (currently it isn't - so either move the start-finish or move the pit lane - or both).
  • You cannot build any new part of the circuit inside this area: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6247532 (current spectator parking area, and also paddock area which could potentially be converted to parking).
  • You cannot destroy any public roads (Aerodrome Rd and Balaklava/Traeger Rd), however you can build over the gravel tracks around the circuit and in the farmland surrounding the circuit. You can also destroy any buildings outside the 'protected area' mentioned above.
That's about it! Looking forward to see what you can come up with.

Deadline is next Monday (March 31st) at 17:00 ACDT (+10:30 GMT), which is 06:30 GMT.

Sorry for the delay guys, had the scenario but forgot to post it :whistling:

After more than 20 years F1 will return to South Africa. It has been decided that a new track shall be build therefor, at Cape Town. The circuit is planned to be close to the Green Point Stadium, so approximately within this area: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com?r=6257341
The track should have a length of 4.5-6km, using existing roads (you can also use those apparently not finished ones in the west of the stadium).
