F1 2010 Time Trial Week #5 Montreal, Canada (Dry)

Hey everyone,

Welcome to time trial week this is basically people will drive lap times on designated tracks and post their times here. Also if you could provide some kind of proof say photo or for 360 and PS3 users just leave a gamertag/PS3 ID so one of our staff can just verify these times are not false.

This weeks track is Montreal (Dry)

So basically you can put in as many laps as possible and your best can be posted here:

The closing day for this thread and results for times is Sunday next at 9pm (UK Time)

The race settings are as follows

Dynamic Racing Line: Off
TCS: Off
ABS: Off
Gears: Manual/Auto

I needed to ellaborate on this as there are a few people who are putting up times with aids on and these times will not count.

It is indeed a difficult corner to get it right, however I do brake very shortly while downshifting to 5th gear. If you don't do this it is harder to get it right. When you brake to 5th gear, you can immediately go back on the throttle (I think I do half to 3/4 of pedal and when you are in the middle of chicane to full). I think, I do this, however it goes so fast I do the last chicane in auto-pilot, because when I start to think do this do that, I make a mistake. The key is to don't think too much only focus on steering, this way I get it right almost every lap.

these are some good times guys i wish my disc wasnt broken so i could have a go aswell but i dont have the money to buy a new game at the moment

I love to see how these times are done on videos, so I know what to practice, and they're not discouraging me at all, they're rather a great motivation to practice !

I still don't know how to record my laps, so I'm about to film the TV with my camcorder...

Get into a branch of gamestation, they can clean up the surface, costs between £2-£5

Thats a pretty good lap time actually, Fahad.

Paulus. could you describe the last chicane? I kind'a get the feeling, on some tries that I dont need to even touch the brake, and other times I totally miss it. Such a hard corner to get right in high speed.

Maybe realease throttle on that shadow on the left side, gear down to 5 to lose some speed, gently push throttle about middle of the chicane.. is that about it?

thnx tomas.. the last corner is a horror for me.. if too aggressive, i go flying off the corners.. im still not that confident pushing the car to the limit.. coz of the traction control.. i feel that i will lose it.. having a lot of problems in 3rd, 8th corner.. and obviously the last chicane.. i was getting close to 1.10 high.. but lost patience.. so will give it a go tomorrow..

My second round of tackling Montreal, This time in a McLaren and racing Tomas's ghost, was better than my last PB but made the same mistake at the hairpin. damn brakes locked up

Congrats, Michael! Very nice! I wish I could challenge you back but my G27 pedals seem to have given up on me.
The brake never seem to be totally turned off, it sways at the bottom, goes up and down by itself. Every time I press it fully, it seem to stay higher in input, looking at the preferences input window.

Does anyone know what the clutch axis might be called in xml format in this game? Maybe I could map that pedal for the brake until I get new pedals.

Got the clutch to brake for me, but doesnt feel right. So this will be my final time for this week. Ordering the fanatec club sport pedals in a week.

Currently at 1:11.246 (arathorniii) on the PC, no aids, default setup, G27 wheel. The chicanes on this track are so difficult! I know I can bring the time down somehow...

Finally got down to 1:10.261 using Paulus's setup before having to stop. 9th on the leaderboard as arathorniii. I won't have a chance to improve before the week is over.

Thomas, you got me beat.

Paulus, I don't know what planet you drive on, but thanks for posting the video, its helped quite a lot!
