Thrustmaster TS-PC Problems

Have had my ts-pc for 3 years and it has suddenly started emitting a nasty acrid smell. Obviously something is or has fried and reading various posts it could possibly be fan related but if anyone has an idea of where to start or problem areas I would be very grateful to hear from them. The wheel still works and I but about to take the case off to clear out the debris, which has collected internally so may get a better idea. If it is the Fan any suggestions about a replacement? THanks.
