The "What Are You Working On?" Thread

(From a bit of net surfing) By only unique you mean the factory car right? Looks like they were late to the party in 64. What's wrong with privateer cars?.. Protheroe's looks much nicer without those second headlights :D Either would be a very welcome addition IMO.

No, this was not a factory car:

There are NOW multiple reproductions of it but at the time, it was unique although other light weigh low drag were built.

Ok, thanks for the correction. As with most classic race car history this is very confusing (to me.) If the car that Sayer built to test the concept was sold to Dick Protheroe and (I assume from what I have just been reading) there was a factory car built after that 1 test bed car that wasnt ready till 65 (or they never built it as they decided it was too late to be competitive) which car is the Peter Lindner one? I guess it was the car built as a low drag coupe rather than converted from a light weight E-Type? Either way I would still vote for the Cut 7 machine :D If anything it must have come before the "unique" car as it was the test bed and was racing in 62.

Other privateers light weigh low drag have been built:

I missed a bit when I read the Wiki page before. So it seems the Lindner car really was 2 of 2. They requested to have it turned into a low drag after the initial car was made and sold to Dick Protheroe. I think Dick's car was crashed pretty bad and restored though so I guess in that sense the Lindner car really is the only unique low drag E-Type today if it wasn't crashed and restored... which it was so I am still confused :roflmao: Im trying to watch a film and researching E-Types at the same time isnt going so well. I'll drop it.

This may answer your questioning:

Ok the list is growing. Now we've found 3 low drag cars :D Which explains these "long nose"/ long nose replica cars

The Dick Protheroe car enjoyed some success in period and has a cool name, Cut 7 still wins it for me :geek:

Omg, who has done that for this kitty ?!!11

I guess water would make the suspension more "alive". However, some plants would start growing on them, so the car should become more planted.

Yeah I just need a few years to learn synth models and I should be set. Searching the net for info is addictive, there might be something relevant for mantasisg so I figured it was worth posting what I found.
