The Most Popular Game?

Discussion in 'Off Topic' started by John Wharton, Nov 21, 2010.

  1. I was wondering..... what is the most popular online multiple player racing game? I am currently playing F1 2010, Dirt2, and NFS Shift, but have not tried online racing yet. I need to get my skills up to it first....thanks...john
  2. None of those have dedicated servers, so none of them are even close to being the most popular :)

I guess F1 2010 would be the most popular in that list, since it's the newest.
  3. I'm wanting to buy a game that has a lot of players.
  4. I have to admit that I enjoyed the most F1 after all those updates here

about online John, online playing sucks a lot with causal players... and this counts for each game and according RD community I would say F1 has the biggest chance to play online with normal thinking players

Test Drive Unlimited :) A lot of people online always :)
  6. rFactor? iRacing?
In terms of sim-racing they'd be up there at the top.

NFS: World must be the most popular online racing game right now.

But popular doesn't mean the funniest or the best ;)
  8. lol I though he consider to buy some of the game in his 3 games list :D

if not I would agree with NFS world as it is totally FREE that it has a lot of players
  9. It looks like a lot of people play race 07 and rfactor. I take it that these are more sim oriented then what I play now?
  10. Rfactor is more of a sim than what you're playing yeah, but if you're fast in those games its only a matter of practice to get fast with a sim, theres an adjustment period but its not too harsh. Rfactor has the benefit of an absolutely massive ammount of free content available, cars and tracks and different series, but the quality of those mods is very specific, ranging from amazing to quite bad. The game without the mods is very lacking, so the whole strength of Rfactor lies in the extra mods, some of which are exceptionally good. The online racing however with Rfactor is not great, unless you're signed up to a league you won't find a whole load of online action, but its definately a must have game for any racing fan.

IRacing is the only racing game i play online at the moment, its specifically made for online racing though it can be expensive as each new car/track costs money. The quality of the content is top notch but you get what you pay for, the quality of the online racing system is also top notch, though the ranking system means if you want to drive the fastest cars in races you have to prove you're a clean/safe driver to earn licences, if you crash a lot during races you won't advance, but it is by far the best online racing experience due to its design, and there are always races taking place.

Otherwise you can always stick with F1 2010 for online racing which is hugely popular, or for the more arcade experience theres Need For Speed World.
  11. Plenty of action here in the rFactor Racing Club.
  12. Gran Turismo 5. No exceptions.

Might have to agree with Resi. Before my PS3 died i was playing GT5 Prologue and F1 2010. I have not checked out GT5 yet, cant afford to buy another PS3 yet.
  14. "Trackmania Nations forever" free and over played it's a great fun. :)
I mostly prefer the serious simulations like iracing but sometimes I just want to race a few laps without a lot of pressure and just have fun it's really the only arcade racing game I play.

Edit: Guinness World Records awarded the games six world records in Guinness World Records: Gamer's Edition 2008, one of them is for the Most Popular Online Racing game.
