The GT5 Prologue Hot Lap Challenge

Gentlemen start your engines! The format is simple, each week a car and track will be chosen to run hot laps. Starting Saturday 12pm GMT and finishing the following Saturday 12pm GMT you will be invited to submit your lap times for that challenge. Once the challenge deadline is met the slowest placed driver gets to pick the car and track for the following week (this is usually me!)

Taking part is simple, fire up GT5 Prologue and select the car for the challenge, click on 'Arcade' in the menu then choose the track and then select 'Time Trial' from the menu and then select the settings shown below:

Transmission - Manual
Active Steering - Off
Driving Physics - Professional
Active Stability Management (ASM) - Off
Traction Control - Off
Driving Line - Off
Front Tyres - Sports S2
Rear Tyres - Sports S2

Once you've selected that you can then start hot lapping, look at the online leaderboards or load a ghost lap. There are no tuning options so everyone runs the same setup.

To make it fair and competitive please don't cut the track or abuse the run off area's to gain an advantage, at least half the car should be on the track at all times and on street tracks don't use the barriers to give you an unfair advantage, the idea of the hot lap challenges is to run clean laps in the fastest time possible.

Good luck and above all have fun!

1.13.607 now and 28th in the rank. Drove with Flippers now, not much difference though :) Still think there is lots of room in my lap, but haven't done much hotlapping in GT5 so that might be one of the reasons :)

PSN name in ranking: ssAres aka [SS] Ares from GTpoint.de back in the GT4 Timetrial days :)

Hi Chris, the deadline for this weeks challenge is 12 noon GMT tommorow but there will be a new challenge posted once the current one expires. At present its the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 '06 at the High Speed Ring if you want to put a few laps in. Slowest place driver picks the car and track for the following week. Someone might post a slower lap than Holmglen03 but if he is the slowest place driver for this week he will be away and can't choose the next challenge so the choice will go to the fastest driver.

<Edit> Challenge 6 is over, thanks to everyone who took part this week it was fun. Congratulatiosn to Parre our quickest driver this week. Normally the choice of car and track goes to the slowest placed driver but as Holmglen03 is on holiday I've asked Parre to choose so I'll post it as soon as he gets back to me.

I did my first 10 laps out of which best was 2.12.921

Not a particularly smooth lap, but a reasonable one.

Hi guy's hope you don't mind if i join in, done a best of 2.10.134 (ranking 85) i could possibly do better but i don't use a steering wheel, just the good old ps controller and the directional buttons to steer :)

neil - psn: nr961

Welcome! the more the merrier! just follow the simple rules laid out in the first thread, clean laps, no abusing run-off's, grass or barriers.

Congratulations to Evilone for posting the fastest time for week 7's challenge, very fast time. I enjoyed that challenge, it was nice to jump in a front wheel drive car for a change. As last placed driver Parre please choose a car and track for week 8.
