The GT5 Prologue Hot Lap Challenge

Gentlemen start your engines! The format is simple, each week a car and track will be chosen to run hot laps. Starting Saturday 12pm GMT and finishing the following Saturday 12pm GMT you will be invited to submit your lap times for that challenge. Once the challenge deadline is met the slowest placed driver gets to pick the car and track for the following week (this is usually me!)

Taking part is simple, fire up GT5 Prologue and select the car for the challenge, click on 'Arcade' in the menu then choose the track and then select 'Time Trial' from the menu and then select the settings shown below:

Transmission - Manual
Active Steering - Off
Driving Physics - Professional
Active Stability Management (ASM) - Off
Traction Control - Off
Driving Line - Off
Front Tyres - Sports S2
Rear Tyres - Sports S2

Once you've selected that you can then start hot lapping, look at the online leaderboards or load a ghost lap. There are no tuning options so everyone runs the same setup.

To make it fair and competitive please don't cut the track or abuse the run off area's to gain an advantage, at least half the car should be on the track at all times and on street tracks don't use the barriers to give you an unfair advantage, the idea of the hot lap challenges is to run clean laps in the fastest time possible.

Good luck and above all have fun!

Improved by 3/100 of a second! :D

51.205

EDIT: That's more like it, 50.827. :) I make that 12:00! Looks like I'm choosing again! (No, I'm not doing it on purpose!)

Same track with the Suzuki Cappucino '95 it is! That will bore the hell out of all of you and I'll win for once! :vampire:

I was joking, like I said, that would be REALLY boring!

Challenge 4's details will be posted in a few minutes.

This week's challenge will see the Audi R8 (love the noise it makes!) get some action.

The setting will be the reverse course of Eiger Nordwand, a 1.51 mile track with eleven corners coming thick and fast, most of them are pretty awkward.

No long straights on this track, so not for the faint-hearted this one.

I've set the ball (or should that be car?) rolling with what I think's a pretty terrible (BUT CLEAN) time of 1'18.920, but I'm ranked 556 in the world with that, so an encouraging sign there.

The best of luck to all of you.

I've only had time to do 10 flying laps before I put away my wheel to pack for my holiday and my best so far is a time of 1'13.617. I know I could probably knock a few tenths off that but I'm not going to have time so that will be my final offering for this weeks challenge.

After loads of laps, a final time of 1'15.349, a massive improvement on my previous best. Now ranked 458 in the world.

The trouble is, it looks like I'm going to have to choose again! :(

Challenge 5 involves the Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG '02 (costing 125,000 credits).

Our venue is the legendary Suzuka Circuit, a 20 corner, 3.61 mile track.

Again, clean laps only please, and good luck.

You have until Saturday 8th August to get your laps in.

First lap is a 2'42.287, already regretting my choice of track!

OK Challenge 5 is now over, congratulations to Ralf with such a quick time and thanks to everyone who took part this week, the more people play the more fun it is trading times. Holmglen03 please pick the next car and track.

So, on we go to Challenge 6, involving the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 '06 (cost of 94,500 credits).

The track is the High Speed Ring, a 6 corner, 2.49 mile track.

You have until 12 pm on Saturday 15th August to post your lap times.

If, as seems to be the normal, I am the slowest again, please can someone else choose the next car and track, as I will be on holiday during the duration of Challenge 7 and most of 8.

1'21.728 for me so far, and I'm struggling to improve on that already. Quite good at racing games without assists normally, but can't get to grips with the Professional setting at all, the car keeps spinning out of control.
