Templates and Painting Instructions

  1. General rules to the DDS Files
    1- Save all your car texture files in .dds (car, helmets and driver suits)
    1.1- Save the cartextures and the helmet in DXT5 alpha format and suits in DXT1 no alpha format
    1.2- Save with Generate Mip maps
    1.3- Keep the original file resolution (from the ingame files)

    Name of the vehicle file

    The vehicle file has to be placed inside the carfolder like in the betamod

    Categoryabbreviation_Carnumber_Teamabbreviation

    Categoryabbreviation:
    WC for World Championship
    WS for World Series
    WT for World Trophy

    The Carnumber and Teamabbreviation will be given to you after your registration.

    Example: WC_01_PM.veh

    Vehicle folder

    The Vehicle Folder has to be placed in the folder for the respective category and be named like the Teamabbreviation. The textures for both cars of one team will go in it.

    Vehicle file

    Example for the default Livery line the basic dds file follows the same name scheme as the Vehicle file:
    DefaultLivery="World Championship/PM/WC_01_PM.DDS"

    The teamname in the line "Team="Teamname" has to contain the Categoryabbreviation at the end except for the World Championship division. This has to be followed to ensure the teams are listed correctly in the game.

    The Classes line has to be the following
    Classes="FSR2012"

    The Category has to be in the following format:
    Category="Formula Simracing 2012,World Championship (or World Series, or World Trophy)"

    Here are the specific texture instructions for each car.

    Ferrari

    Cartextures: basic, extra0, extra1 (Logos need to be back-to-front inverted here)
    Driversuit: extra2 (no template available)
    Driverhelmet: extra3, extra4

    Cockpitview textures:
    the Ferrari needs extra textures for the cockpit view.
    simply copy the basic texture and rename it to extra5, copy extra0 and rename it to extra6 and copy extra1 and rename it to extra7.

    So the texture files for the Ferrari should be like this:

    WC_01_PM.dds
    WC_01_PMextra0.dds
    WC_01_PMextra1.dds
    WC_01_PMextra2.dds
    WC_01_PMextra3.dds
    WC_01_PMextra4.dds
    WC_01_PMextra5.dds (copy of WC_01_PM.dds)
    WC_01_PMextra6.dds (copy of WC_01_PMextra0.dds)
    WC_01_PMextra7.dds (copy of WC_01_PMextra1.dds)

    Brawn

    Cartextures: basic, extra0, extra1 (Logos need to be back-to-front inverted here)
    Frontwing: extra9
    Driversuit: extra2 (no template available)
    Driverhelmet: extra3, extra4

    So the texture files for the Brawn should be like this:

    WC_01_PM.dds
    WC_01_PMextra0.dds
    WC_01_PMextra1.dds
    WC_01_PMextra2.dds
    WC_01_PMextra3.dds
    WC_01_PMextra4.dds
    WC_01_PMextra9.dds

    Red Bull

    The Red Bull has two versions, one wide nose and one small nose version. You have to decide for one.

    Cartextures small nose: basic, extra0, extra1 (Logos need to be back-to-front inverted here)
    Cartextures wide nose: extra5, extra6, extra7 (Logos need to be back-to-front inverted here)
    Driversuit: extra2 (no template available)
    Driverhelmet: extra3, extra4

    So the texture files for the Red Bull small nose should be like this:

    WC_01_PM.dds
    WC_01_PMextra0.dds
    WC_01_PMextra1.dds
    WC_01_PMextra2.dds
    WC_01_PMextra3.dds
    WC_01_PMextra4.dds

    And the texture files for the Red Bull wide nose should be like this:

    WC_01_PMextra2.dds
    WC_01_PMextra3.dds
    WC_01_PMextra4.dds
    WC_01_PMextra5.dds
    WC_01_PMextra6.dds
    WC_01_PMextra7.dds

    Williams

    Cartextures: basic, extra0, extra1 (Logos need to be back-to-front inverted here)
    Driversuit: extra2 (no template available)
    Driverhelmet: extra3, extra4

    So the texture files for the Williams should be like this:

    WC_01_PM.dds
    WC_01_PMextra0.dds
    WC_01_PMextra1.dds
    WC_01_PMextra2.dds
    WC_01_PMextra3.dds
    WC_01_PMextra4.dds

    Please send the textures in the correct folder structure to make the work for the admins easier.

  3. there are helmets, but no helmet templates sadly.

  5. on the brawn wheel covers is it possible to change them or will they be removed?

  7. I think there is a little Problem with the Brawn GP template. For me I used the Brawn WC folder to take a look at the car. There is this "update 1" file in the templates and in this Drawn folder there isnt an excisting one of it, or anything that has another name and looks like it. Also you cant paint the FW in the "extra1" file.

    Any solution for this?
     
  8. Hi,

    yes it seems there is a texture missing. The "update 1" file from the templates has to be the extra9 texture which is where you can paint the frontwing.
    It will be fixed in the final Mod release.

  9. Ok. So I (we) will have to name it extra9 and put it into the folder normally?!
     
  10. yes, it should work then :) but if you are not sure you can wait for the final release and check it out there.

  17. has anyone noticed that the templates have no alpha layers?? if not fixed they will be stupidly shiney..
