Great couple of races there guys!

Made the worst imaginable start in race one. Literally went nowhere from pole, and was last by the time we reached the braking markers into turn one. Terrific battle up the front when we all caught back up! I think there was a bit of contact into the first corner at one point, and I think waiting was probably the right thing to do. Not sure what position I finished in but it was great fun.

Expecting to stall the car, I got off the line alright in the second race and moved across to cover turn one pretty quickly! I carried way too much speed and had a huge tank-slapper on the first lap into the fast chicane which woke me up nicely! Mid-way through the race Steven started looming pretty large in the mirrors, and he was lapping at least half a second per-lap faster than me. We had a great battle for about 5 laps, but he was too good and sailed off into the distance to take the win.

Thanks for some thoroughly fun and respectful racing everyone. Cheers for all the work setting it up Rupe and Steven!

Only one of the following stories is true......Can you determine which one is the real post? If you can you will receive, completely free, with no charge, and with an absolutely no return policy, a 6 CD pack of car driving, brake slamming , road ripping songs sung by Steve....as you have never heard before. If you have ever been lucky enough to have heard Steve sing a few tunes on TS, you know what kind of a Trick... I meant ... Treat you are in for.

Post 1.
I arrived late but quickly got in a practice lap and even took first place in qualie. I had a fantastic start ...left everyone behind... opened a huge gap ... lapped everyone three times resulting in a first, a second and a third place finish. First time I believe that one person claimed all three podiums in one event.

Post 2.
Only had time to sign up for Race 2 .... at the last minute but snuggled in nicely because the car was very stable to begin with. I had a surprisingly good start and landed in third spot I believe and held that position for a few laps. I was a little shaky in a few spots and slowly lost a couple positions to Steve and Rupe but I was able to just hold off Allan for a fourth spot and claimed a lead metal. Had a mind gone blank moment at turn 1 on the last lap and completely forgot what gear to negotiate the turn in ....stayed in fourth and all most lost it.

Last nights races were some of the closest and most enjoyable ones I've had for a while now:). The Ford Mexico didn't seem to be a very fast car but this made it far easier to drive much more closely to each other making race 1 such fun.

After a reasonable start we were all line astern with about 1 or 2 car lengths between us for the first half of the race until Tristan and Alan had a little scrape through turn 1 (which I missed by mere inches) leaving a gap of about 6 seconds to the next cars.
I had been struggling to get the chicane right but by this point I had almost got it sussed and this allowed me to gain on the front runners relatively quickly. Being so close to the front by now gave me a front row seat watching Rupe and Hans having a really good battle for 1st and 2nd place until he finally made the pass on him.
A lap or two later I managed to make the pass on Hans on the run down to turn 1 but he wasn't letting me get away easily. Fortunately I had a little more pace than he and I was able to open the gap whilst closing in on Rupe but near the end of the race I had a little mishap and dropped back a bit but was still able to stay ahead of Hans and sealed a second place finish.:D

Race 2 was a different story in that, by now I had mastered the car and track combo so I decided to start from the back with Rupe. The start was ok for me but a little scrappy for others and this continued for most of the first lap. We should be able to do better than this guys. Thankfully people calmed and steadied from there on and settled into the race.
I was able to make steady progress through the field until I got to 3rd and had closed in on Alan at turn 11 where we were side by side. That's all I'll say on that except that I was disappointed.:(
That little setback just prolonged the inevitable and I made the pass into turn 1 after he tried to out-brake me and went too deep to make the corner. All I had to do now was to chase down Tristan who had quite a few seconds gap on me. It took a couple of laps to close that gap but I eventually caught him by lap 10/11 and despite him making it very difficult to pass (by holding his lines and covering the inside lines into bends and such) I was finally able to win 1st place from him through turn 1 and to keep the pace steady enough to open the gap enough to give me a comfortable win.

I have to give my hearty congratulations to Hans who had an amazing race 1. He led fair and square for most of the race and finished in a well earned 3rd place. Thanks also go to Tristan who gave me a run for my money in a fair and fun race 2.:D
Many thanks to all who turned up and to Rupe for choosing a great car/track combo. See you all next time.

@Jack Smith. I vote for tall tale no.1 although I must have been in a different race to have not seen that one. I can't believe you could be so cruel to inflict my singing onto others.:sneaky:
