Another good event to kick my day off. Great to see another Aussie joining in the early hours, welcome Tristan.

Race 1 turned into a fairly lonely affair as I ended up in the no-man's land between the battle in front and the battle behind. I kept slowly dropping behind Rupe and Franklin, even though they were having a huge scrap. At the same time, I pulled a large gap to those fighting behind. The only drama was almost running out of fuel, but I was able to coast home after taking things very easy over the last two laps.
Grats to Rupe for the win and WD Franklin for 2nd.

Race 2 in the RS2000 proved more interesting, for me at least. For some reason I was never able to feel like I was on top of this Escort, but didn't have time to fiddle much with the setup. Listening to everybody chatting about various gearings was doing my head in, so I just opted for default (If it was good enough for Rupe, it was good enough for me ;) ).
With Rupe and Franklin opting to start from the back, we managed the rare feat of two Aussies on the front row, well done Tristan for pole. After a good start (surprise surprise), I was quickly locked in a torrid fight with Steve, who really had the edge. Steve was able to draft alongside down the main straight most laps, but I used all my tricks from the "Roland school of defensive driving", and managed to fend off Steve for many laps. Great driving though from Steve, we didn't touch once. :thumbsup: Eventually Steve pulled off a great late braking pass at the end of the straight, but he threw it away, not long after, exiting the last hairpin. :( By now I had a speedy Franklin all over me, but I held him up for a couple of laps. Strangely, Franklin wasn't able to pass me down the straight like Steve could, so there must have been something in all this gearing stuff. Of course Franklin was quicker elsewhere, and soon passed and started to open the gap for the win.
Grats Franklin, and WD Roland for 3rd.

Thanks to Rupe for organising and to all who joined the fun, quite enjoyable. :)

yes that was a great night of racing,
the Ford drives different to the other one but it still feels great, had to great races, running hard in both.
great 1st race with Franklin lap after lap bumper to bumper exchanging places, great fun, i got the little break on the last lap as Franklin had a wobble to take the win, i would of been just as happy to come in last after a race like that..

Race 2 started form the back with Franklin, :thumbsup: got mixed up with a wandering car in the 1st corner so waited for him to get going and then it was full steam ahead, never though id catch the guys up again but as the laps went by i got in site of the leaders and had 4 great last laps with Tristan and then Steve in the last 2 laps as the 3 of us exchanged places
i managed a lucky pass on the last lap to get back in front of both of them , they both went a bit hot into a corner and i got a perfect line and went up the inside on the exit and had the inside line for the next corner, great fun all the same..

Its all about the racing...:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I had some not-so-great, and some great racing last night. The Mexico Escort felt a bit dull to me, it just had too much grip for its grunt, it ran like on rails. Plus although it wasn't really, it just sounded and felt kinda slow..

So during race 1, after a nice first few laps, I started losing focus. Cars that keep me on my toes all race long are better suited for me; maybe I suffer from some mild form of ADD, I don't know wait is that my Phone ringing? or it's just a screw loose in my hey look a Squirrel!
Anyway I couldn't get my focus back, and finished 2nd last I think.

FOr R2 I got my act together: this one sounded a lot better and was a bit more lively... And an undistracted Q2 run got me as far up as 3rd (THX to the non Q'ers:D)
I got stuck behind Tristan at the start, but managed to sneak past eventually, and followed Warren and Steven around for a while, closely tailed by Franklin. He clearly was way quicker, but displayed some exemplary gentlemanlike driving, very clean and nice. Eventually I cracked under the pressure, had a slight off and had to let him go and play with Warren and Steven. In the end Steven got held up and I had front row seats to Warren defending 1st place with all he had, but eventually he too had to let Franklin go.
This race was very very good fun! THX to the staff and all others for racing, and Grats to all podium finishers!

For one reason or another ... not important ....I was bumped and spun near the first of both races so from there on in it was a case of the snail trying to catch the turtles, and forget the hares. Well I did catch and pass a few turtles along the way but I also spun out on my own a few times so it was more of a chance to get some practice in while racing. Had a few laps with Hans and Rene. Thanks Rupe for the event. Well done to podiums.
