DiRT 4 sweden, sweden, where art thou?

just did the first event in my career at sweden and i failed miserably: in other locations my game settings allow me to fight for podium or top5 with the ai if i do clean stages. at sweden i was dead last for much of the first two stages? the fastest ai beat me by 25 secs whereas in spain i can win by a margin of 3-5 secs with the same settings? anyone having the same problems? car feels utterly floaty and wishy washy, sometimes i zigzagged down straights as it was impossible to countersteer in a controlled manner. weird. using g27, all assists off except for autoclutch.

Sweden wasn't my best location in DR either but for instance in our RD tournament the gap to my fellow players was more or less the same it was in other locations.

what car? In my experience dampers have a big influence, and getting the damper/supsesion ratio setup right also helps. Another thing is steering linerity, I have mine on -4 with G25 and it helps neutralize a dead/floaty feel in the middle.

Front Spring rate softer
Front Anti roll bar softer
Rear Anti Roll bar harder.
Ride Height a little bit up
If you have brake bias make it a little bit to the rear.

You have less understeer and little more Oversteer which is good in Sweden.
You can take the corners faster and more sideways
It works for me. But doesnt mean it works for you. You have to the right settings which fits you.

thx for the advice, afraid it did not help, just made the car very tailspin happy, finished the rally a measly 20th and not looking forward to more snow/ice in Dirt4. Pity, it was fun in DR but this is more like floating with unpredictable jerks of the rear from time to time, must be the G27.

Which Impreza? I initially hated Sweden in D4, but then it grew on me and the WRX Sti N4 is great fun, even with a lowly DFGT. What are your FFB settings both in Profiler and in-game?

did some posts in here and reacted to what people said there, never touched the profiler because the way it is set now is perfect for iRacing and that's where the heart is. Changing games in the profiler never really worked for me, maybe because i do not use an admin account for playing or maybe because i overlooked sth.
I have more or less given up on the g27 and this game, we fiddled thisaway and thataway and it never felt half as good as DR, it never lost that basic floaty "where are my four wheels?" feeling (actually went back to DR for a spin at Wales and the difference almost physically hurts). What are your settings at the moment?

I'm running the DFGT at 100 strength, 0 spring and 0 damper with 10 percent centering spring, at 900 degrees.

In game: self aligning 65, wheel friction 20, tyre friction 50, suspension 100, tyre slip 75, collision 120. I'm not currently running soft lock, instead I'm using 60 percent steering saturation, so 540 degrees of rotation fixed.

Overall feels very close to my DR settings.

Is this your first rally with a 4WD car?
Because I noticed that the AI is very slow with FWD cars so I was playing with AI difficulty on "Tough", but when I did my first rally with a 4WD car I was shocked by how fast they were...
However I didn't noticed any AI speed difference between Sweden and other rallies.

I'm not sure about that, maybe some cars are too slow/difficult to drive/unbalanced...

With a bit of more experience I managed to beat easily the AI on "Tough" in the "4WD up to 2000cc" class using the same car (Subaru Impreza 2001), then in "Group A" class I had a lot of problems using the Lancia Delta HF Integrale but switching to the Ford Escort RS Cosworth I was a lot faster.
Same thing with the RWD cars: I struggled with the FR models (BMW E30 M3 Evo Rally, Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500, Opel Manta 400) but I found the MR models much easier to drive (Lancia Stratos & 037 Evo 2).

As I wrote, so far my only real issue with AI is with the FWD cars, I'm not an alien and I'm playing with a PS4 controller without any aid, but I managed to win some stages with even a 90+ seconds gap...

I am pretty sure about that, many people have mentioned it by now. It might've even been acknowledged by the devs (I can't remember for sure and I don't really want to go look for it now, sorry).

What worked for me to setup the FFB in D4:
I went to "freeroam" in "Dirt fish" got into my car for testing and set ALL force feedback settings to zero. Than started testing the various effects - each single set to 100% one after the other - to find out what information they might give me.
For me now it is only "self aligning torque" = 50% - all the others did not give any useful information for me within my steering wheel. So I set them all to "0"
(Thrustmaster T150 - all settings = 100% within windows driver).
This setup works "acceptable" for me - allthough compared with "Assetto Corsa" or "ProjectCars" the FFB in D4 is quite miserable to my taste.

Regarding the car tuning setups:
I would like very much, if we had a thread to put our setups there maybe added stage times (or is there already??)
