Specializing in one car

It's kind of looking like AC will for the best part be a GT sim racer, as that class of car will have the most representation.

Do some of you guys try to specialise in one particular GT car? I'm thinking if I want to get good at GT races I should pick one of the GT cars and stick to it. I've been jumping from car to car so I don't have too many hours put into any one car.

o rly? :D

But yeah, I have a couple of cars that I seem to favour more than the others, but I get bored pretty quickly, so I need to change my ride often :p It's a shame, that AC only has so few cars, compared to... pCARS or even any arcadish games (GRID, Shift).
I find the car count quite staggering. I have found for anyone of them to get them to the edge takes time and patience. I found that if you approach them that way you find that the car count is quit high.

Yeah I'm currently specializing in prototypes :) And have been for 2 or so months.....and yes....in AC.

Usually the reason why I start to specialize in one car is because the other cars in that same class are just bad to drive. Either they are uselessly slow in comparison or just not as fun to drive. In ac I don't have that problem as I find most of the cars fun to drive. Maybe except the F40 (my world is crushed!).

Even with the gt3 cars I try to always choose different one when I'm racing them just because each one of them has its own character and drives differently. The beemer is the easy to drive but comes alive as you push it, the ferrari just goes faster and faster and never seems to run out of grip and you really need to overdrive it to get it going. The mclaren is really neutral and is complete opposite of the ferrari and needs finesse more than sheer courage to go fast.

As for the results when changing cars it does hurt you a bit. You spend time learning a new car instead of learning how to become faster in that other car. But once you learn to drive more cars that same effect turns into a benefit. Driving just one car may allow you to develop bad habits that may not hurt you in your primary car but will hurt you in some other car. And similarly you can learn new tricks in other cars that you can then use to your benefit in your primary car. Just don't jump from car to car after 5 laps. Give it some time.

The MP4 was a nightmare for me cornering until I started letting it glide in off the power into corners and applying throttle very linearly coming out. Any harsh throttle I find it throws the rattle out of the pram. YMMV.
MP4 has a few FWD traits right there. As each car has few traits of it's own, there are general traits for type of car. So generally car either can be helped turn round the corner with throttle, or it can't. 80% of RWD cars can. The cars that can't be turned easily around the corner with throttle especially in quicker corners are harder to spin out and therefor considered safer.

Then, of course there is type of tyre car uses and downforce car produce, so you can class it again and makes necessity for me to recognize type of corner. Now when you're going into a 190kmh gt3 corner with e92 speed difference is much higher then in hairpin and so is the way you lean onto the tires. Lack of downforce negates front end load a lot.

Anyway, before I get much into engineering my point is few vital things are necessary for each car and there you have few tips to make it easier for yourself. As for specialization. I'd recommend to specialize setups for your chosen car. That's what I do. Driving comes more naturally anyway.
