The absence is turning into more of a sabbatical now...
I won't be racing for a good 2 weeks or so now.
Last Tuesday (15th Feb) I had .... and there is no way I can make this sound sweet so I will just come out with it... a heart attack. Some of you may think yeah yeah and I wouldn't argue with you as I thought exactly the same as I am only 40 BUT...
There are two trains of thought as to why I had one:
1. Champix - this is a drug that helps you to stop smoking. one of the side effects is heart problems and can cause heart attacks. the consultants at the hospital i was in put an alert out about it.
2. The specialist who did an angiogram (like a heart probe) told me it could of been a small piece of cholesterol or plaque as he called it, got stuck and that blocked one of my arteries and that caused it.
Both are 1 in a million freak occurrences... but they happen and it's how yer deal with it that counts!
I'll be honest it literally scared the living s**t outta me.
So I've now been told by the nursing fraternity to take it easy for up to 6 weeks but for 2 to 4 weeks to not over do it. I did ask about the racing and they told me no. Miserable gits... saying that you should of seen the looks on their faces when I asked about going out partying! The answer made me go away and sit in the corner and sulk.
I've been given a great honor being made Race Staff here and due to one thing or another it's kinda gone tits up!
I am sorry for all this but as soon as I am back firing on all cylinders I will make it up to you all!
Thanks for being patient,
Ian
