skyboxi x 3dsimed: problems w/ normals

  1. after many days of hard work, I cant solve the problem with my skyboxi.
    I made skyboxi with cilinder and delete the cap top/botton.
    put the materials (dds) in each face. but dosenĀ“t appears in RF.
    I discovery that I cant see inside of my cilinder but I cant invert this.
    I tried many things but nothing, include use the edit/normal/facet normals
    in 3dsimed.
    some one help me , Im crazy.
    Im tried 3dmax but I cant put the uvmap in right place. (10 files .dds)
    I spent many hours until obtaining success with cilinder and number of faces.
    please someone help me?

  2. the better way is to make one skybox texture of your 10 ones. It will be very wide but so you have all right scale for all.

    In 3dsmax it is very easy to devide polygones as sized as you want, where is the Problem?

  4. where?? in 3dsimed??

    My cilinder have 24 faces and I need map only some faces. I already tried with less .dds Like only 2 but the height does not correspond with the Real.
     
  5. you can do it in 3dsimed and btb . click edit materials and selected the checkbox. can't tell you extactly where no 3dsimed or btb at the moment

  6. How many images do you want to use, 6,12 or 24.
    Does it need to be 24 faces ?
    Let me know and I'll see what I can do.
     
  7. Im using 10 img in 24 faces like this:
    img1,img2,img3,img4,img5,img6,img7,img8,img9,img8,img9,...img10-->
    until complete 24 faces
    my version of 3dsimed dosent this option, double-faced. I dont know if this only on new version.
     
  8. Had a play and got a 16 sided with images 1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4,5,6,1,2,3,4.
    Works in Krunches skybox as the horizon.gmt.
    I'll have a play tomorrow with more plains and pics.

    Ok here is a 24 panel 1 using 10 images.
    Unzip the files to where you want to work on them.
    Open horizon.gmt in 3DsimEd.
    Replace the images in this zip with your own but name them exactly the same as these eg. bk01-bk10, make sure they are 512 x 512 dxt5, set the image in 3DsimEd as noclip,mips off, transparency to multi and specular to 4 or 5.
    Export the horizon.gmt to the same folder and overwrite the 1 in the folder also export your images to the same folder.
    Then go to tools in 3dSimed and select Pack Data/Rfactor.mas, go to the folder where all the files are and select them all, and save it as sky.mas, then copy the sky.mas and paste it over the 1 in your tracks folder.
    You may have to do some trial and error with size and z position.
    Sorry the top D/l link is for a 24 panel 10 images eg. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,1,2,3,4.
    This 1 is I think bigcarva needs 24 panel 10 images eg. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,8,9,10,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,8,9,10.

    This zip contains all the files from Krunch's sky.mas including the readme please make sure you repack it with all the files supplied, and remember to mention him in your readme when you release your track.
