I could moan all day about how bad this circuit is. The sooner it's struck off the f1 calendar the better.
Flat, featureless (just a big fence all the way round) every corner looks the same as you approach & you only get up to 8th gear once for around 1 sec. (I think that's enough moaning lol)

I am in complete agreement with you brother. This is the kind of circuit that is brainchilded by billionaires who don't race in order to produce the biggest showcase (read: drive by as many cool downtown areas) as possible.

Once designed, a driver just has to be mechanical and hope he finishes first. At no time does the car "feel on edge" because it isn't, other than the FIA hoping someone goes a bit fast into a turn. When drivers talk to "high commitment" tracks, they mean "because of speed and fear" and not because they are plopped onto a track with no imagination, soul, no history, and no business in a sport that calls itself a "racing" series.

The "design" looks like it was created by city engineers and a small child playing with hot wheels track. Two year old Baku is 1000x the city circuit this one is.

Singapore is fantastic. Drivers love it and its atmosphete is superb, there's no way it's soulless. Best track for rythm driving or at least it was as I've not tried it for about 2 or more years. Its a better track than Monaco but just doesn't have the history.

Time has nothing to do with it. You could argue Singapore is older than Baku. With city circuits (other than Monaco and Long Beach) the design is what the city will allow. And so driving in a big Asian city is the LAST place I'd go to for exciting racing. Baku was designed well, with hills and juxtaposition of slow/medium.high speed turns. At Singapore, F1 said "okay, the show is everything, not the racing" -- and so it's the quintessential F1 track to many who are all about show.

Reporter for China Propaganda Outlet: "So, as a 13 year old, do you love you job on the assembly line?"
Child Slave on China Propaganda Outlet: "Oh yes! It is everything to me and my family."

Any driver who says they "love" Singapore as a track is lying. Put 100 drivers on Singapore, only in a Kansas cornfield, and in that same cornfield run the Silverstone layout, and it would be 100-0 in favor of Silverstone.

Hey, if drivers can love a track like Monaco they can love Singapore, which is 100x better than the history parade

Monaco was much better before the FIA Track Nazis started screwing with it. And it still retains that character, since 90% of the fans in F1 seem to worship Monaco. Singapore is like not having any semblance of a *driver-created* and fan-loved design before you let the FIA track Nazis design it. That never turns out well.Baku designed itself, because it's a much more open space...and the designers apparently found their balls in the closet for certain sections. lol.

Monaco has never been a grear race circuit... it's great for other reasons and that hasn't changed. It's remained largely unchanged and if anything the swimming pool complex which they added rather than having it just as a straight added something rather than take away. Of course they've removed the haybales though lol

Regardless of your comment in the other post Rob it's a track drivers love and always have fir many reasons and of course they love Silverstone that's a given and nothing to do with Singapore.

I attended the Singapore GP in 2015 and atmosphere was amazing. Agree the circuit layout isn't the best (lots of 90 degree bends!) but the night/dark, cars under the lights, heat/humidity, music concerts, etc. made for a fantastic 3 days of entertainment.

Disclaimer: I may be biased towards Singapore as got engaged there the Thursday night before that race weekend. Restaurant in a sky scrapper looking down on the track with safety car doing prep laps seemed the perfect time to pop the question!!!
