RESCHEDULED - Rally: Tour of the Americas - Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd July 2013

I think I might be able to have a go at this!

Ross McGregor -ross32- EU

Can anyone rank these cars in order of evilness?! I tried the mk2 escort & M3 and didn't get on so well. Gave the Volvo a go and it feels a bit easier to control. What's the 'best' car for someone who hasn't practised and just wants to finish?!

The escort! I don't expect to win this thing but the escort is the most fun. If you want to finish in the side of some spectators face the the escorts the car.

i dont know why, but I am looking forward to this event, gonna try a starlet for a change.. but I am still trying to paint/clean the outside of my house... if it rains I will def b racing!

Jet washing a house is not nearly as much fun as it sounds... wood work cleaned and filled, just need a last sanding then whip on some paint and I am done, I reckon 34th of julember 2045 and I will be done!

Ps if you go off the road by 1 cm it may be impossible to get back on lol

Damn, something came up. I did finish the first stage but can't finish the rally now, I will join the EU session. Can I start from the 2nd stage there, or is it too much hastle?

EDIT: Didn't do most stages on EU either but will join EUZ anyway. This is so much fun that I just have to drive :)

That was really good fun! Nice stages and a nice car in the Volvo. It felt quite drifty, but in a controllable way. Blotted my copy book on stage 1 by false starting and also forgetting to start cam-hack, so I lost a bit of time there, but the rest of the stages went quite well apart from the SS8 when I managed to roll over after hitting a small bump. (Totally unexpected and a bit of an annoying one as I was going so slowly! I hate CFH's!) All in all though, a really nice set of stages and a great car!

Thanks to Roy/Ole/Senad/Jack and whoever else helps out at the RD Rally Club!

More please!

I managed to finish each stage at least. Started making new errors, flipped the car on the last stage, one or two CFH but a big improvement on the last rally. :) Great fun trying to keep that escort on the track, thanks all!

A rally to forget for me aswell. had a CFH and such a high number of spins that I can't count far enough on SS1 alone. When I killed the car in my 23rd spin on SS2 I found that I did not do the Escort any justice tonight. So i DQ'ed myself with a car change to the Volvo, and got results right away... At least for the next 3 stages. Then I killed the car again on the final 2....

Tomorrow after work I'll be giving the result-gathering-process a go myself for the first time, expect lots of errors and frustration :p

That could have gone better

SS1 - Diamond Creek2:

Decided on the BMW M3 for this event but also knew that the wet stages would be the most difficult stages with it.

Took it very easily and made sure to not go off the road but still drifted off twice so it was clearly hard to keep the M3 on the gravel but I got to the finish so happy that I managed that.

SS2 - Hualapai Nation:

Didn't go to plan. Somehow managed to roll it in such a manner that I had to CFH to get it back on the tires again and then a broken windshield made me missjudged the distance to the fast left after the wall on the left section and went off big time collecting a non-wanted CFH

Did finish but a less than respectable time

SS3 - Frazier Wells:

Was dreading this stage considering how it went on the stage before that I actually like but hell, it went almost perfectly. No misstakes, a couple of brakings when not really needed to make sure that I wouldn't crash and got to the finish on a PB time for me with the M3 :)

SS4 - The W:

Went well except for a misstake at the 2nd hairpin which was me turning in to early trying to keep the car sideways and the speed up and ended up going over a full lap so a 1.34 I think in the end, 5 seconds off PB :cautious:

SS5 - Prospect Ridge2:

No drama, some really nice sideways action and a lot of fun, this stage is perfect for the RWD GrH cars. Happy and I hope the time was competitive :)

SS6 - Canyon:

Not a stage I like so took it fairly easily but still hit a wall quite hard slightly damaging the rear end but it went quite well non the less :)

SS7 - Diamond Creek:

Oh yes, the best stage for me. Was pushing quite hard but took it easy at two corners I know that I usually end up going off at and had a nice time at the end of the stage :)

SS8 - Prospect Ridge:

Was flying before hitting a tree with the rear end damaging the Silencer and lost a bit of power which wasn't really a problem until I got to the long run at the end of the stage. Was pushing overly hard and forgot about a slight bank on the inside in the last couple of medium corners and hit it with the front end which sent me into the trees ending my run :(

Really enjoyed myself tonight. The RWD's are such a joy to drive and hopefully I was on pace at at least a couple of the stages. Hope everyone had as much fun as me and good luck to those still to run :)

I feel I may have to withdraw from this rally's results.... which is a shame as i might have made it into the top 11. A good result for me!

I believe the rule of being able to restart if you go out before the 1st split really is about giving people a fair chance if they start an event and have some sort of unforseen technical difficulty... (a daft example would be steering whell not plugged in or even not attached to the table, or a stage loading problem).

My issue yesterday was i drove into a clearly visible rock (the size of a house) on turn 2, stage 1.

So if my interpretation of the ethos of the rule is correct, please feel free to elimate me from the results.

If on the other hand the rule is simply you get a free go if you dont make it to split one then I will take any results.

I leave the decision up to the powers that be and the dreaded ogre of the Whiskervillian Meadows....

:D

Yea, gotta agree with guys above - It was lots of fun! I'm not really fan of RWD, but my god, physics in RBR is pretty good. Couldn't even guess that there isn't RWD in original RBR, because it feels so neutral and flawless.

From event itself I was lacking of times comparison because I was driving alone in my session. Therefore I felt myself fast, but I'd compare it with math tests - if it was easy, it might not be successful. But at least I got through all stages without any retirements or C4H, so I guess it was pretty alright. First two stages were tricky indeed. I even went out in first corner of first stage. But still hope to finish in top 5, therefore I'm looking foward to see the results.

Something I forgot to add, because I enjoyed myself so much in the Rally I'll upload 2 videos, one from SS5 and one from SS7 which are the stages I think I might have been able to get good finishes time whise in the rally :)

If the amazing thing happen that I win a stage I'll upload that as well :notworthy::redface:

One day the Escort shall be dominated!

Cool, this is probably my chance for victory :D
