RDRC S8 Round 6 - Rally Wales (8th May - 14th May 2017)

Last night I did day two of the rally with stages 9-15...
After having a bad stage 7, where I lost lots of seconds, my aim was to get back in the slipstream of Jono @edgenz and Nigel @Webbcar. Nigel is the one to beat for me, as he's close behind me in the championship table... After stage 8 Jono was 3s ahead of me, Nigel even 24s :O_o:

Stage 9 - A long one to start into this day. Had a nice & concentrated run, lost 1s on Jono but made 5s on Nigel. :sneaky:
Second stage of the day was another long one, so concentration had to be held up high for this one. Had a clean & safe run there and lost 1 or 2 seconds on both. But as the long stages were done now my confidence screamed FULL ATTACK DUDE :ninja:
Stage 11 - the nightmare stage reversed! Not for me guys, I didn't sleep at all last night :p Lost a bit on Jono but only 19s behind Nigel in total now...:rolleyes:
Stage 12 next and yet another good one from me. Didn't push a 100% to keep the car on the road and in a good shape...made 5s on both guys and in total Jono had 5s and Nigel 14s on me...damn, I was sooooo nervous while driving out there... :cautious:
At stage 13 I had to keep the revs low as my MIL went on but my speed kept up high...another 4s on Nigel, Jono made 2s on me :(

Turn out the lights gentlemen :sleep:

The night had come and the Delta felt good...Cleaned my glasses before that stage and had a real good one at Dyffryn Afon. Another second on both guys... :cool:

Bidno Reverse - last stage at night...and OH WHAT A NIGHT :laugh:
Missed a gear after a hairpin right in the first sector...my nerves :cautious: Rest went superb for me.

Seems Nigel had a little rest that night :sleep::sleep:;) - now I'm 11s ahead of him. Jono has a 7s lead - but there are still 5 stages to go mate :ninja:

Will challenge day 3 on Saturday evening (GMT) - stay tuned...

Ah, and this one for @Dag Inge Hansen...it's not so terrible as you thing mate :whistling:

i will remember that bit of advice about cleaning your glasses before tackling a stage :)

on another note: does anyone else kill all lights in the room before tackling a night stage? i always do, it makes it much easier for me to see what is what, especially once you start hitting stuff and losing one or more of your headlights. Day 2 stages on the agenda tonight, all lights off in the von glan home office for the final two stages of that day.

So you must live in a castle and there should be a dark cellar :laugh:

I use a Philipps Ambilight TV at my rig, it illuminates the wall behind the TV, the rest of the room is dark as it's in the cellar (no, I don't live ina castle :roflmao:) and there is only a small window...
 
Just finished day 2.
Everything started off fine. I just can't keep up with the leader. But i was building a gap towards rallymaniac1964.
No major incidents in the first stages of day 2. Just a hairy moment here and there when i try to pick up the pace a little. Then came the night stages. the 5th turn or something between the 2 hairpins i skidded wide, hit a tree. Rearleft puncture... :cry: Front diff almost open, undrivable the moment the rubber let go of the rim. Every touch of the loud pedal resulted in a backend stepping right. Stage time of about 4min30 so i lost about 1minute 15sec. Dropped pretty far in class. Behind Lumue and "Rallymanic1964"
Pretty disapointed with myself. It was a stupid mistake, a lapse of concentration. Highly doubt i can take those 30+ seconds back on Lumue.
 
I'm hoping someone can help as its the final round...........my mk2 escort handles fine on wet gravel, but on dry gravel it feels like......its on gravel :rolleyes::D. Just seems to float around the stage a lot more than in the wet, any setup tips??

I am not using a controller. CSW 2.5 is not officially supported by the game, so I counts as a controller or so, due I am forced to use the axis-detection thingy.

I need one minute here; I am not a big fan of people joining in the last or last two events. Now I have no hate against my fellow racers, but it do harm the driver and team championship. In my personal case it's my Teammate and I need some precious points to win or have a podium for the Team championship, but now I see Karik and SuthernStar which are new in this RDR League it seriously will harm the way my Teammate and I are going to be placed in the team standings.

Again I've no hate against Karik and Suternstar, but it's something to oversee/thought for any future leagues in Dirt 4. Also I am curious what you people think bout this.

Thankyou for an awesome comp Racedepartment :) even though i only managed to participate in the last two rounds it was still enjoyable for me.

Wales was tough in the Escort with having to run 8 stages until service. Maybe six would have been better for the old cars as my engine light was on at stage 7 without the car suffering any collisions or offs. But hey, with some management the mighty Heineken Escort got through.
All was good until SS20. Maybe pushing a little hard the car suffered three offs, one was upside down i think haha.

I dont think you will need to be too worried Rinus, EWRT have only had 1 car for the final three rounds as 1 team mate has had issues with the leagues only letting him run 7 stages and then being returned to the main screen. So a little upsetting for us aswell considering we were leading the teams championship :cry:

OK, stiffen up the suspension a few notches, stiffen the dampers, lower the rideheight, increase stabilizer, the drawback with this is added instabiliy but faster feedback from steering. So be prepared to act faster on oversteering and such. Good luck!
 
I see two 2wd- guys using assists and one using a controller. When you filter to no-assists, you should just be gaining positions. Are you saying the order of the names changes?

TCS, ABS, SCS,:) Since the sixties and seventies cars didn't have em. Not a big deal just thought it was interesting that results changed, kind of assumed we were all no assist.

Not 100% sure but I don't think assists like ABS,TCS,SCS has ever been used(or even been allowed) in rally cars.

I think due to driving with 900 degree rotation I lose at least around 1s/km or 1,6s/mile compared people who use 540 or less. Pretty much Finland is only location where there's no time loss from rotation (no need to do hand-over-hand moves there except only in couple turns).

Also I believe biggest reason that the time loss from higher rotation is so great lays in the fact that older cars (60s,70s,80s, maybe 90s too) in this game have way too much grip and that's increasing average speeds by a lot. Specially cornering speeds(in 4-3-2-1,square+hp+acute turns) are too high and there's no time to react fast enough with higher rotation or something like that.
For example the diffrence in Finland between 1970s and 2010s class cars is less than 1s/km (1,6s/mile) when u compare wr times in both classes and that makes absolutely no sense. I think more realistic difference with 70s cars(with modern tires) would be at least 4s/km (6,5s/mile) and with time period(70s tire compounds) grip levels maybe 6s/km (9,5s/mile) slower on those type of very fast Finnish gravel stages u find in the game.

Having all that tech was fabulous but the cost was high and it was making it too easy for drivers"
