    Safety-first Zones

The following diagram indicates the location of Safety-first Zones for Round 5, the Thrustmaster 12 Hours of Suzuka:
    Suzuka-zoned.png

The yellow zone, which will be in effect during the first lap following a start or restart, shall commence along the start / finish straight and end along the Backstretch, just before 130R.

The orange zones, of which there are 4, shall be enforced for the duration of the race, and are positioned as follows:
    • Starting prior to Snake, and going through the chicanes to the exit of Anti-Banked Curve
    • Degner (starting at the entry, ending just before the bridge)
    • Hairpin
    • 130R (starting at the end of Backstretch)
Please refer to the image at the top of this post for corner and section names.

For those unable to easily distinguish the yellow zone from the orange zones, the yellow zone colour has been switched to blue in the track diagram below. Please click on the thumbnail to expand the image.

    Pit Entry Positioning

For the race at Suzuka, we recommend that any cars intending to enter the pits should stay as far right (towards the inside of the track) as possible when exiting Casino Triangle and entering the Last Curve. Any cars looking to overtake should do so around the outside / left side of the track, as the pit entry lane is approached.

    Physical Driver Swap Penalty Position

Following a physical driver swap, the new driver is expected to drive to the end of the pit-lane and stop for 5 seconds (the time for an in-game driver swap) to account for any time that could be gained. Race Control should be informed when a swap is due to be performed so that a steward can be sent to oversee the pit-stop and ensure that the 5 second "penalty" is served. Please refer to the attached images ('Physical Driver Swap Penalty Box #.JPG') which show where the driver is expected to stop the car after a physical driver swap has been performed.

REPORTING AN INCIDENT DURING THE RACE

To help simplify the process of reporting collisions, crashes, cutting, and questionable driving during an event, a form has been created that will allow a team to submit all of the necessary information to Race Control so that the incident may be reviewed and actioned by the live stewards. The form can be found here:

RDLMS S7 - Incident Report Form (OPEN FOR RESPONSES)

You must submit the form for each incident that you would like to raise during the course of the race. When dealing with an incident we shall contact you via TeamSpeak if we require any more information. We shall also inform you via TeamSpeak if and when any action has been taken in relation to your report.

    IMPORTANT!

The official servers for Round 5 of the RDLMS powered by Vesaro - RACEDEPARTMENT.COM LMS R5 and RACEDEPARTMENT.COM LMS DRY - are now ready and available for testing and training.

Both servers currently use the latest version - v4.0 - of the custom car / skin pack, which is based on v1.5 of the Endurance Series mod; an update for this component, which shall include any newly submitted skin files, will be created and released at a later date.

Also, while work on the custom version of the track is underway, both servers have been setup to use the current, base version of Matsusaka, originally developed by 'woochoo' with support from 'ISI' and officially released in 2016. Once the modifications have been completed by our track development team the servers shall be updated and we will switch to using the version of the circuit and resource specifically updated for the RDLMS; this is expected to be within at least the next couple of weeks, and more information shall be provided as and when it becomes available.

Finally I would like to remind all teams to start submitting any new and updated livery files, if they have not done so already, for Round 5. New entrants must submit skin files, else they risk not being able to participate in the race, and these must include an albedo map to ensure compatibility with DX11 (even if you are still using DX9). If you choose to revise your livery design then we also ask that you ensure an albedo map has been applied. For more information about albedo maps please see this link - https://www.studio-397.com/guidelines-for-artists/ - which provides instructions on how to correct skin files under the section titled "How to quickly update car skins / color maps". If there are any problems with the albedo map (i.e. if it is missing, or has not been correctly applied) you shall be asked to make appropriate amendments and will need to resubmit your skin files for Round 5. Any files that have been sent already will be processed as soon as possible. The submission deadline for skin files will be at 23:59 GMT on Friday 22nd September, before the new version of the custom car / skin pack is created and released on Saturday 23rd September.

Because of the 1st round of the VEC?
It might be the same for us, and i assume it's gonna be the case for a huge part of the field as there is a lot of line-up that are engaged in both championships

@Daiman Patel Have you ever considered to make a schedule change for the 12h of Suzuka?

    @Fredyoh @Shane Burke
Jimmy and I have put the driver list next to each other, there isn't that much overlap.

Anyhow, you all know what you signed up for, what our rules are and what we expect. You signed up more than half a year ago, so the commitment stands.

    Understood ;)
I think that...if something has to be done with the calendar it has to be coming from the VEC as you were the first to announce your calendar

We'll try to be here, but that's gonna be hard.

    Cheers:thumbsup:

This was intentional given that a fairly substantial part of the race will be in darkening conditions and at night; we want drivers to practise and test at these (in-game) times of day as much as possible so that they are able to gain experience and become accustomed to driving at dusk and in the dark. I will go so far as to say that maybe the accelerated time progression was previously a bit too quick, so I have just reduced it from x4 to x3, but I am reluctant to go any lower than this else the time will never be sufficiently late in the practice session (on either the R4 or DRY server) to allow participants to test and train in dimming light and under the floodlights at Suzuka. I hope this makes sense, and that you understand our reason for setting a "high" time acceleration parameter value. :)

What specifically is not working with the live timing links in the first post? There is a known problem with the live timing screen - the table headings occasionally disappear - and the track map has not yet been created hence the completely blank screen when nobody is on the server - I shall create the track map soon - but other than this the individual live timing screens are working exactly as intended. The reason why we have provided links to the individual screens is to prevent the loading of fastest lap times from the database, which can cause the application to slow down and stop working when a "large" number of people are attempting to connect especially during a race, however it is still possible to access all of the information at avon.racedepartment.com. We are also looking at switching to another live timing tool, but unfortunately I have not yet had the time to set this up; more details shall be provided about this in the hopefully not too distant future.

Cleaned out the thread, according to our ToS, let's keep this thread about the event itself.

Kinda nice we're at Suzuka now, I prefer it over Fuji:D

Then again, if there was a version of Autopolis around... oh boy.

But anyway, this could be a fun round.

    IMPORTANT!

We are glad to finally announce that the custom version of Suzuka Circuit (a.k.a. Matsusaka) - v1.03 - is now ready for Round 5 of the RDLMS powered by Vesaro, and has been released. The track mod, which was originally created by 'woochoo' with support from 'ISI', and already compatible with DX11, has received some minor updates to prepare it for league use by the RDLMS.

Please note that due to the updates that have been made to the track mod the surface will initially be "green", and the rubber / grip levels will need to be built up again; the AutoSave file will, from this point, store and restore the road conditions. Also due to the update, previous 'best lap time' information is no longer available on the live timing screens; it is possible to see these times by looking at 'Driver best laps' and setting "From Date" to 2017-09-01 (and press "Refresh Data"). Any new fastest lap times will be visible on the live timing screens.

In addition, an updated version - v5.0 - of the custom car / skin pack has also been released. The pack contains all of the submissions that have been received and processed to date, and all of the liveries for Round 5 of the RDLMS powered by Vesaro.

If you have already subscribed to the private Steam Workshop group - see here for more information - then the updated resources will be automatically downloaded when you open the Steam client (you shall need to close rFactor 2, including the Launcher, first / before you log in to the server else the process to retrieve updates from the Workshop will not commence). If you have not yet subscribed to the private Workshop group then you may do so by following these instructions. Alternatively the resources can be automatically downloaded and installed via GetMod, when you login to the official RaceDepartment servers for the RDLMS (RACEDEPARTMENT.COM LMS R5 or RACEDEPARTMENT.COM LMS DRY). The component files can also be acquired manually, via direct download links in the General Information thread, and also the event thread (Round 5: Thrustmaster 12 Hours of Suzuka). If you experience any issues with accessing the updated files then please inform us as soon as possible so that we can investigate and rectify any problems.

The Thrustmaster 12 Hours of Suzuka is now only 2 weeks away. Official Practice shall commence at 11:00 GMT, GT Qualifying at 11:40 GMT and Prototype Qualifying at 12:15 GMT, before the green flag is waved for the Race at approximately 13:00 GMT, on Saturday 7th October. More information can be found here. And remember that a live broadcast, including commentary, will be available throughout the race, for both of this series' remaining rounds.

Meanwhile, the submission deadline for new and updated skin files to be included in the final version of the custom car / skin pack (v6.0) is Friday 27th October, and the component file shall be released on Saturday 28th October, 3 weeks prior to the sixth and final race of the season. The deadline has been moved forward by one week because I will be away between Friday 3rd November and Wednesday 8th November, during which time the updated resources would usually be released. By making this announcement now I hope to give teams sufficient notice and time to make preparations in advance. Further reminders shall be provided nearer the time. I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. I would like to take this opportunity to remind all teams that updated skins can now be submitted for Round 6 of the championship.

In the meantime, best of luck to all teams with testing and training, and we look forward to seeing you for Round 5 of the RDLMS powered by Vesaro on Saturday 7th October.

Thanks for the heads up Dan, however this is intentional - the live timing application knows that I have configured and generated a track map for Suzuka, but I have not uploaded it yet because I need to determine and indicate the locations of the Safety-first Zones on the map. I shall sort this out and add the track map tomorrow morning. :)

    ANNOUNCEMENT!

Please find below (and in the opening post of this thread) links to the live timing page and the track map page; these individual and comparatively simpler screens should work quicker and better compared to the 'Stream' pages because no interaction with the underlying database is required to retrieve previous timing information:

    Live timing: HERE
    Track map: HERE
    Track map [alt.]: HERE
    Server status: HERE

We recommend using these links because previously provided links to the 'Stream' pages may be slow, and may also slow down the live timing application for others.

Once again you may view the track in one of two colours schemes - yellow/orange and blue/orange - as some people have previously been unable to distinguish the yellow zone from the orange zones.

Selecting a row on the live timing screen will highlight the driver in the timing table, and also still highlight the chosen car on the track map (even though both run in separate tabs / windows).

If at any point the live timing table or cars on the track map disappear just refresh the page and everything should reappear.
