Track Notes
These 2 tracks were chosen for testing as they contain all variations required for a balanced and accurate assessment and test of the League vehicles' characteristics.

Dijon is obviously a very familiar track for all GTL drivers, and while we all know that it can show off power and top speed, it also has a couple of other technical areas that will help with the driver's knowledge about their chosen vehicle. T1L requires good brakes to slow as late as possible, and a good steup will allow stable transitions from heavy braking to initial feathered throttle turn-in, to on-the-power turn exit. There are 2 very steeply contoured turns (T5L & T6R) to severely test out the grip, balance and poise of all cars and their setups. The long final corner (T8R) also tests the under/oversteer tendencies and ability to accept power, as you need to be on the power very early in the turn for a good lap time, but there is also a varying radius, a dip and crest to contend with as well.

Vallelunga is a less familiar track, but it contains several other car testing features. It has a long front "straight" where there is a couple of very high speed kinks to negotiate, requiring stable changes of direction. Followed by T1R & T2R, a banked double apex turn where your car's stability over kerbs will be at a premium. T3R & T4L is another test of direction change at speed, with the exit of T4L also needing braking stability as you will possibly still be steering out of the turn as you need to brake for T5R. T6L is an incredibly tight turn so grip into and acceleration out of there is crucial, and the slow speed chicane T7aL & T7bR that follows is another big stability test.

All in all, these 2 tracks were the best compromise for all the cars, allowing the power cars some straights to stretch their legs, the handling cars some complexes to catch up, and the balanced allrounders to patrol that middle ground between power and handling at all times.

It will be hard for me to drive and watch the STC broadcast tonight :). If this test should be very serious racing then i maybe should not join cause less (no) training and avocation.
Normally i thought the test will be to look if there are problems with skin or the big field !?

Great night, had fun, was surprised with my pace.

With all problems in race 2, I got up to P10 at one point. But then I hit a kerb in a bad way, spun, and got in the way of Erling who was right behind. We collided, I saw him spinning in the air, while I was doing pirouettes on the grass. Major steering damage after that, couldn't keep it in a straight line under braking, fell into last place.
Sorry about that, novices shouldn't drive around other people.

Driving a BMW is always fantastic, at least for me (and at least on the virtual world, since my project of buying an E30 is still on the paper hehehehe...). An old one, even nicer, and with such nice and respectful drivers on track, wonderful! OK, this was a heat up race, and we'll see the real thing next race. But indeed, great!

Vallelunga, a track I've driven on rFactor a year ago, which after a stressful and long day is not too good for racing, but I managed to finish it without spoiling the car paint!

And then Dijon, one that I know since 2003 when I started racing on Internet (offline, by then) with GP2, and then GP3. Almost 8 years now... and this is for me one of the best versions I've ever driven.

I really didn't like the rFactor '79 that much, a bit hard to reproduce Villeneuve-Arnoux fight hehe.... but on this one? You still have some (but less) grip after the white line, and it's possible to race side by side in many turns! The problem is GTL and its mirrors...... what mirrors?

The virtual is only central for me, even after editing the PLR - not like rFactor. And the inside ones... too dark and hard to follow. Anyway.

One thing I did notice was the fact that you don't really need to touch another car in order to make it happen. If you get just close, sometimes the game makes the "dirty" work for you. So gentle this game, ain't it? hehehe...

Well gents, thanks a lot for the race, I had a real great time and look forward to the next race!

Well that was a great first race and a good battle upfront, with Ralf and Gary neck and neck all race long with me watching close behind. But lucky for me they both had a small coming together with a couple of laps to go and i managed to squeeze my way through the middle and hang on for the win.... :D. Then came the second race, qualified near the front again and hoping for some more of the same but going into the first corner i out braked myself and went straight into the side of Gary and squasheded him into the tyres, ...:sorry: mate. There's nothing worse than being taken out on the first lap.....:poop: im just glad it wasnt a league race . Apart from that i was well pleased with my pace in the 916 and hopfully i can keep it up when the league starts....:)

Well read some statements from D. Vuckovic he wasn't that excited, I'm just interpreting he was taken out by another but don't know. Anyway, I read and heard quite a few "sorrys" here n there. " :sorry: There's nothing worse than being taken out on the first lap.....:poop: " My opinion is there's nothing worse than be taken out on any lap.
I don't want to be a pain i.t.a. but why don't act like we've paid for the cars. No problem to drive as fast as you can but obey the "sorry-situations". When ever the one in front of you is slower and no room for a clean pass take it like a man and cope with it.
So far my very opinion and biggest wish

For me it was a really good test night, learned plenty of stuff, one being the BMW will take some beating from the lights, many laps of fun comfortably chasing Ralf, some half chances of passes but only really "banzai" stuff on offer so i resisted, until i noticed the race was almost over, the laps just flew past so quick,my first attempt wasnt even an attempt, just badly caught out with very different braking points, the second was a full blooded attempt at the same turn,i can see Ralf isnt too pleased with me but i know the full circumstances of both nurfs and am comfortable within myself that they were both total accidents that would probably pan out the same if it was in real life and i owned the car, were there to race, nothing worse than a procession train :).
Dijon was a good test for me as well, but again more contact incident following Vuckovic up the hill out of T1 when he appears to wildly back off :/ :s,i ofcourse back off too to avoid and according to the pixels on my monitor all is well with a little bit of air between our cars, but his car then reacts like its been tapped and he spears off to the left in to the wall,i stop and wait....for about 1min?,and get going again,i really enjoy the rest of the laps to the finish.

So...very very sorry Ralf for my stupidness ruining your win,and also sorry Vuckovic too,not your fault at all, just very awkward situation arising from me ending up insanely down out of position from the begining.
As far as i remember (please correct Thommo?)....all through S5 i never once touched another car over the whole league, certainly never took another car out,i feel confident i can repeat that in the coming season.

Many Thanks Stu/Carlos & RD and i cant wait for round #1

Looking forward to this league now, it looks like it could be very very interesting.
My Porsche lacks a little on the straight compaired to some but it makes it up under braking, has the edge through some corners and is great at getting the power down out of some corners.
Don't know about the rest of you but i find it more fun with a mixed field like this, yes it can be scary in the first lap or so with everyone having different braking markers but once you get used to where the others around you it is fine.

Thnx all for some good races.
