Right - before you lot go to too much wasted trouble and analysis, I've just posted my first test League vehicle pack into the staff forum for Rupe, Knut (& Senad if he wants) to try out.

It weighs in at about 125Mb - but thats all 5 mods (albeit cutdown, hence why the filecounting above might be effectively useless), all required sounds/soundpacks, all currently submitted add-on skins...

It's pretty comprehensive, and designed to be used on a new, clean install.

My testing suggests it works, but obviously we need further testing than just me. I've siloed it off as much as possible from my painting and car creation folders, so it should be totally clean.

Just recieved the news that one of my co-workers at the store have lost someone close, so he will not be at work for some days. That means that I will take his shift for the rest of the week, and thus leaving me out of chance to reach the testing on time. Sorry, guys :(

feel like the little boy at the end of this !

Lol Rupe, I have to admit I felt like the big guy in the car after the event. :whistling:

An interesting and revealing test event I guess.

First up, a couple of apologies.
Sorry to Stuart for wrecking his Race 1. After being hit from behind and spun, my huge lump of a Shelby was left prone on the racetrack and all I could think of was to get off the track to avoid the freight train behind. I thought there was sufficient gap so tried to spin it off to the grass on the other side but ended up with too much wheelspin and drove into Stuart's path. Very sorry to the others who ended up involved, I hit esc as soon as I could, but now realise I should have hit quit as soon as the car was first spun. Really sorry Stu, very poor mistake on my part.
Also, apologies to Guus for the tap off track in Race 2, I tried to stay as tight as I could through the chicane but it slid a bit too much. Again, in hindsight, I shouldn't have tried to go through there side by side.

Overall, after this event, I'm now starting to regret choosing the Shelby. I love driving it, and I'm confident that I can keep it under control and put in some reasonable times (even on the tighter tracks), but clearly it will become a source of frustration to the other more nimble cars in the League, especially since I have to brake so much earlier and take the tight turns much slower.
I know it's limitations and will drive accordingly, but it could be difficult for the other drivers around me to adapt to.

The better news was that I had no issues with the server. Hopefully, the recent gremlins are now sorted thanks to Stuart, Rupe, and Knut's efforts to re-organise things.

Bit of a mare for me to be honest.

Smash with Warren in R1 knackered my steering (in a 911 vs Shelby collision, there's only going to be 1 winner), and I was a liability so quit out. One of those things Warren, we've all been there before and we'll probably be there again.

In R2, I got a decent start, was slowly (very slowly) reeling in the cars in front, when Jacob got a good tow off me down the back straight in his Escort. He went to my inside at the approach to the chicane, and looking right I never saw his nose, but he also wasn't in my mirrors. I stayed left expecting him to appear, but he didn't and suddenly appeared in my rear view mirror (graciously and prudently conceding the corner for safety - Nicely done Jacob), which surprised me. Unfortunately, instead of watching the road I was watching him, and I got a nasty jump off the left hand kerb, throwing me into the wall, again hurting the steering (in a 911 vs wall collision,...) All my fault, just annoying that because of that I only got a total of about 8 laps of racing last night.

I was also less than impressed by some peoples driving I saw last night with regard to aggression, and how they treated the event and other drivers. Some who have been around long enough to know better. I don't care who you are, or how long you've been around, if I see stuff like I saw yesterday during the races, you will face penalties and/or disqualification. Just because its a League doesn't mean you can push people onto grass, lever them off the corner or cut in front of them and slam on the brakes immediately into a braking zone.

That was partially my fault Warren, I was a little frustrated with the 911 because it is so slow in a straight line. I saw your cruiseship coming from so far back and still you managed to overtake me :( I thought oh no you dont and went for the outside. I should have just let you by as you were so much quicker than me.
I am really unhappy with my car choice. The 911 was the first and only car I tried and it is fun to drive so I picked it, but I had no idea it was so slow. I hope it turns out to be a good car in the longer races with tirewear.

Im glad to see everything is working fine now, looking forward to the first race :)

So - basically you want the handling of the 911 with the power of the Shelby?

That car would not be in this League season.

Pretty much everyone agreed last night that it's nice and close in times around these 2 tracks (which are pretty much extremes of the types) across all cars. If you'd picked something faster in a straight line, you would have had to trade off cornering ability. Each car has a trade off with everything else.

The fact that we got this field, made of these disparate vehicles, and they are still so close? It's nigh on amazing that everything balances out as well as it does. Yes - the Porsche is not going to compete with the Shelby in a drag race (not many are, to be honest) but we aren't driving around drag strips. Make your time where your car is strong.

The cars are indeed very nicely balanced, its a great lineup :) Im not saying the 911 is too slow, It can do pretty decent laptimes. Im just dissapointed I picked the 911 without testing it against the other cars. I usually pick a car with high straight line speed because I prefer that over cornering speed for overtaking purposes, so having it the other way around can be a little frustrating ;)

It was really good to see we had no problems this time around. Thanks to all of you for making sure it was problem-free:thumbsup:

First race was a nice one for me. Spent first half of the race behind Krzysztof. Was really nice to test the Ferrari against something lighter and nimbler. Tried to go on the inside a few times, but it was not easy to get a good run on the 911 on this track. Nice driving Krzysztof. Around mid-way I was approaching the last chicane and thought I would clear the inside kerb. But I climbed the kerb a little bit, which launched the car up on two wheels. Was able to force the car back down, but in the "landing" I got a good spin and ended up on the grass. For the rest of the race I had some hot laps as I charged hard to try to catch the guys ahead. Great fun!

Second race was very quiet for me. Got a good start and this track really is good V12 territory. Very enjoyable around here.

I had good clean racing throughout the event, but I got the impression that it was not the case for everyone. Just to add to what Stuart said, this is a gentleman's league and it's expected that everyone behave that way. And in the RDHCS we have some proper multi-car racing with very different cars, which has it's own unique challenges. The braking points, cornering speeds and acceleration will vary a lot between the cars and this is something everyone should keep in mind when racing. When testing on an empty track you can find that "optimum" lap, but you should be prepared to have to compromise on that perfect lap when it comes to real racing. You might find yourself behind a car that is slower in terms of lap time but hard to overtake, which can be frustrating at times, but patience will be rewarded in the end.

This.

The inverse is also true, lack of patience will penalised and ultimately cost you more than a single place.

Indeed Porsche is slow on the straights compares to almost every car here, but the fun I have and understanding with this car is awesome. This car forgives mistakes and I am confident that it won't do something unexpected when I am close to other drivers.

Race 1. Very nice track, on the beginning very challenging but after practice quite nice and dynamic to drive. On quali I managed 3rd time after Leszek and Knut with quite big loss to them. I had a very good start and won the position with Knut on the start. He was all the time close to me and I rather concentrated on the mirror than Leszek, who was very fast. Knut made, as he explained above, mistake and behind me appeared a big gap. I concentrated only on my performance and tried to avoid any mistakes and drive the car as smooth as possible. Unexpectedly Leszek made a mistake on the chicane after SF line and I won the position and kept it to the end. WIN again, wow! Third time here and fourth time in my career :D

Race 2. I cannot have got used to this track and had a very bad start and as I remember after the start I was on P11. Later kept my pace and generally by others mistakes finished on P5. Race without history :) and I was really impressed by times of the people. Still I do not know if it was because of my relaxation after first race or the lack of the power of Porsche. I think the second one as I finished quali the first from Porsches.

I really really regret I will not be able to take a part on the first race, but this time I will be in delegation in Brussel and only can be with you by thoughts. Good luck!

Could not make a full overtake so i backed off, its a fast corner and tricky so it would have been a disaster for the both of us .
I don't think it's a corner to overtake somebody by braking late. If it was a slower corner i would have tried... It's still racing.

Really looking forward to start of the Leagues. It's looking to be very competitive, laptimes are very close.

Porsche is considered slow? From what I saw (two weeks ago; sorry for not being able to make it this week, had a general schedule shift and wasn't able to race yesterday) the 911 is the car to drive. It's on par with the lightest cars when it comes to low-speed cornering and is pretty good when it comes to more open tracks. Combine it with hands as capable as Krzysztof's or Stu's, and the rest is history :).

Looking forward to Round 1, the cars are definitively a joy this season :).

In more ways than one, this was a great event for me.
First of all, no apparent issues like last time, which means that all the (additional) work done by the staff is paying off. Thank you Stuart, Rupe and Knut (in random order :))

2nd, while thankfully I can do 2 short races with a short break inbetween again, I'm aware that a single 100km league race is still too much ATM:sick: . So this seasons 2 weeks delay to me are a blessing.

3rd, I just had great fun. Twice. And I still think it's just incredible to have so many completely different car models race so closely together.
I had close racing with gents in various car models throughout race 1, and I also learnt that even a car as small as an Alpine can actually move a 1300 kg stationary Shelby sideways, as long as impact speed is high enough :roflmao: .
In race 2, after a pretty good start -not as good as Warren's BTW:confused: - I found myself chased by fellow Alpine driver Bob for most of the race. I could keep both Warren and Dmytro in sight - well sort of-, and towards the end I was closely chased by a group of cars containing Alpines, Escorts, Porsches, a Healy and a Shelby, and with some good fortune (and others' bad luck  ) I even finished in 2nd! Oh dear, things can only go down from here...:D
Still.. very much looking forward to what's promising to be another great season.

Overall, after this event, I'm now starting to regret choosing the Shelby.....

Well Warren, my english isn't that great, but I take it this is a polite Aussie way of saying "FFS people stop using my car for target practice and find a way AROUND if you're cocky enough to think you can overtake me!" ..or something similar??
Reminds me of someone who got tapped around at least half a dozen times driving a Pantera in last seasons league, it's REALLY wide, with slightly inadeqate brakes but more than adequate V8 grunt... MUHAHAHAHA. Driving people behind me nuts sometimes:sneaky: and LOVING it... :p

Lol Roland, yes I had plenty of experience from the other side of the fence last season, learning to to find ways around the power cars, or learning patience and waiting for a clean opportunity (usually a matter of waiting for tyres to be chewed up). It is a bit scary knowing that you HAVE to brake much earlier than the angry pack behind, and then the brakes (and tyres) get worse the further the race goes.
I was also hoping to get revenge on your lightning starts, but you still seem to get that Alpine off the line like a rocket.
