Drivers & Teams

The RaceDepartment GT5 Championship S2 is for single driver entries only.

Vehicles & Liveries

Vehicle Regulations Thread

This is a single model championship using a racing modified Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Your vehicle must meet the vehicle regulations exactly in order to be eligible for the championship. If your vehicle is found to be in breach of the regulations or using unapproved upgrades, you will be immediately disqualified from the championship. You may also be banned from future championships.

All drivers must use a unique number and colour for their car. These must be stated when you register for the championship, ensuring that you do not choose a number and colour already reserved by another driver. In addition, you may not choose any number between 1-10. If you do choose a previously reserved number or colour then the staff will assign you one instead.

Shakedown

There will be one or more shakedown events held before the championship begins. All championship participants are obligated to attend these events as they are designed to detect the connection issues that some users have with GT5. If you suffer from these problems and they cannot be resolved then you may be asked to give your position in the championship to a reserve driver.

Shakedown: Grand Valley Speedway - 8th January 2012

Absence

This is the most important part of the briefing that you need to understand! If you accept the invitation to drive in the championship then we expect you to be present for all races during the season. If you miss a round without giving at least two days notice then the staff reserve the right to remove you from the championship. You also risk termination of your licensed member status at RaceDeparment.

Championship Regulations

Championship Regulations Thread

The Championship Regulations are laid out in a document for the 2012 seasons. As the regulations differ from the club rules, everyone must read them before registering.

We at the Go Green team are hopping that we wont disappoint Chevrolet and our future fans. We tested our new engine that doesn't pollute as much as the standard one and everything went OK, so we are very optimistic about starting in every race and finishing without trouble. Fingers crossed ;).

For me, after finishing 6th in RDRC's Production Cup last season, this will be a different challenge and a change of pace but this time the rear end shouldn't be a problem. My mistakes in the last three rallies left me hungry for a good result so I'll give my very best.

Yes we tested the car on Nürburgring and some other tracks of course. The car is great and joy to drive. Can't wait for some bumper to bumper action. :)

DRAMA AT CATERHAM RACING!!!
Due to Caterham Racing focusing on the new F1 team, there has been budget cuts within the team, allowing just enough practise time for just tyres. Driver and local man, Sam Righton, quoted "It's a shame that the team has come to this, however it's good for the people of Caterham that we are going to get spotted world wide, thanks to Tony Fernades, whom I thank for giving me this opportunity." Sam will be hoping that he will do Caterham proud in the coming season starting with Laguna Seca on Sunday 15th January.

Guys, can you please not answer questions unless you are 100% sure of the answer. 'I think' answers tend to cause confusion. The best person to answer is staff since I set the regs. :)

The pit lane is open from lap 2. Since the start/finish line is beyond the pit entrance, the earliest you may pit is the end of lap 2. Similarly, the latest you may pit is the end of the penultimate lap.

The 'coffee mug' button will take you directly to my lounge, which is where the races are being held. No need to use the little yellow icon. I would ask that people DO NOT join my lounge until they receive a PSN message saying that it is open.

It will be at the whim of GT5. People will be moving between the lobby and track throughout practice, which messes up both their own and other people's lap times when it comes to grid position. (Which is why it is forbidden to return to the lobby after qualifying has begun in normal events.)

The primary purpose of the shakedown is a connection test, which is why there is no qualy and only five laps per race. There are no points on offer and the results have no bearing on the rest of the championship. Just have some fun. :)

(Bear in mind that full championship regulations with regards to behaviour and driving standards are still in force!)

It may be set to fastest first, but lap times are still buggered up when people move between the lobby and track. It appears to be an old bug that PD never bothered to fix. That's why an official qualy session with tight rules is needed at all.
