Our next Rally is open for sign-up.

We are running another of our Tribute Rallys, where we recognise past and present Rally Drivers and the cars they were most famous with.

For this Rally, we pay tribute to another great Fin, Tommi Makinen. Tommi is one of the most successful WRC drivers of all time, ranking second in championships (4), tied with Juha Kankkunen and behind Sébastien Loeb (7), and fifth in wins (24). He is a four-time World Rally Champion, a series he first won, and then successfully defended, continuously throughout 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999, on all occasions driving the Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

Of course, we will drive the Mitsubishi Lancer, the car he made so famous. We will use the Evo 6.5 from the A8_1 Car Pack, and the default skin is even the Ralliart livery used by Makinen. This car is a WRC car, and drives very similarly to the other WRC cars in RBR. It is quite powerful, quick, but handles reasonably well.

For this Rally, we will be testing our drivers to match the great range of skills demonstrated by Makinen throughout his carrer. The Stages are all default, but will be a very wide selection of changeable surfaces and weather, and they will test the all-round skill of our Club Drivers to the full. This Rally will have a bit of everything, including an opening Monte Carlo Stage, followed by a rapid trip around the world on Tarmac, Snow, Gravel, with some variation in weather, and a night Stage thrown in to add to your challenge.

Patience and adaptability will be the key this time.

DRIVER BRIEFING NOTES:

1. This car is a typical 4WD, and has plenty of power, so some care will be needed. The handling is quite good and similar to most 4WD WRC cars.

2. RBR Pacenotes are designed for default cars, Normal conditions and Good weather. Please remember to adjust your speeds to suit these cars.

3. Tyre selections are the drivers responsibility. If you use the automatic tyre selection option in RSRBR2011, please beware that sometimes it may give you the wrong tyre for the conditions. Always double check your tyres, it is critical.

If requests are made for any additional timezones, or changes to Start times to better suit your local needs, we will try to include them ( but within the Monday/Tuesday periods).

Please note that Start Times now take into account DST adjustments around the world, including the Server time. Please check your local times.

Good luck all, and let's see who might have the skills of Tommi.

Huge thanks to Damien for the classy Banner. :thanks:

This is off topic a bit, but that Subaru looks gorgeous against the brown and orange gravel. And against snow. And grass.

That reminds me, I won a boomerang signed by Makinen and Solberg from Rally Australia in 2003, near the end of his short stint there :D

Okay-OC starts 5:30 local time-15 minute Public Session startup delay so essentially starting at 5:45, short stages for the most part, I should be able to complete this rally within 90 minutes by 7:15 and make it to work by 8:30
