Rally - Old Swede, take 2 - Mon 15th & Tues 16th November 2010

Thanks to all, have had a great time..ss4 way to carefull, ss6 spin, then a roll on ss7, landed on wheels so not to much time lost.Car is a handfull but superb fun, thanks again if it was not for this rally i would never have given this old swede a go. CANT WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK!

This car is FUN :)

:good:

One of my favourite cars, nice and fun to drive, and looks great in replays :)

Had 3 call for helps, and some 360 spins. One epic crash in France, I wonder how that one looks in the replay :D.
Also, Lukasz mentioned that the car is slow, and you can listen to the codriver. I always go wide in a corner near the end of Greenhills. This is the first time I noticed that he actually says "tightens" there :D

Wish I had a clutch and a shifter like Ondrej :(

EDIT: nice stage times Mick :good:

Aaaaaweeeesome :). Loved this car, despite not doing any practice (well, fiddling with turning the wheel in the interior view etc. 10 min. before the event does not count) it handled great. I love the way RWD car responds to your every whim on the gravel. If only we could have the handbrake it'd be perfect.

Started poorly, by getting sucked by grass on fast lefthander in Rally School, then Simone showed me that even though I thought I had a nice, clean, quick (albeit safe) run on Chird he can wipe the floor with us. In Australia I managed to catch up to him after apparently he's had a few minor problems. I was surprised to win the EU Hualapai, because I completely messed up the last braking and slammed into the barrier, got off road, didn't know what planet I'm on for a sec and stuff like that. Managed to survive Senad's favorite gravel Finland (lack of handbrake, again, was a bit of a pain) and I was thrilled to see Simone is still behind before Joux Plane, when he just dominated us (my 7-point turn after spinning out and few scares cost me way less that those 40 seconds, respect). I wasn't trusting the co-pilot in the forests. Rally School II was just a formality.

Great fun, I'm waiting for another Volvo event in the future. You know, because Warren missed it, not that I want anything for myself ;).

Thanks to all for starting and to Senad for creating it. Great fun!

First Rally event online,Volvo not easy but in thee end a nice car when you get used to it,first stage should be easy "Rally school" but I didst the car beside the bridge in to the water, first of many calls for help ,East West was the most difficult one for me,
Hualapai give a third Time ? for me the best run, Joux Plane was a long one with 2 calls for help, but a nice few lol.

Thanks Senad great event,an thanks all for racing:thumb:

Yeah, I remember my first time launching RBR. Now I can't believe how I could possibly hit that bridge almost every time I launched this stage :D. This game can be a handful, but IMO more rewarding than most other sims.

Hey guys, i don't know what happened this morning, but when I went online to drive I couldn't find the session. after 12 hours night shift I thought it was time for bed anyway. Sounds like you all had a blast, well the Volvo IS fun to drive.

Sorry again for missing out.

Damn, I caught the "no sound" bug! Probably just on this car, I ran a rally before this in another car that had engine sound.

Just ran this one safe. After the Escort rally I just took the strategy of keeping the car on the road at all costs and minimize spin outs and offs. Did fairly well, I think 2-3 spins and only one call for help. But I was super slow, driving like a grandma. Definitely not my style of car :)

Senad - I didn't have any problem I just had a phone call form me wife :) that's why I skipped SS2 and SS3.

It was quite interesting experience.

On one stage I even clocked 3rd time :)

France was looking very good for me but I had a good tempo and was happy with it, but I spun hit the tree and damaged radiator which forced me to cruise to finish.

One stage - don't know which I had multiple spins, CFH due to become stack 2m from road or even with front wheels on it. Finally I reached finish, not giving up. I saw Hans was also in trouble there because it took us more time than retire :) LOL but finish is finish no matter how much time will it take.

With a little more experience - I tried RWD 30 minutes before event - I would have more fun.

There were two sessions, the original one with your time conversion at 22:30 GMT, and another one with my time conversion at 21:00 GMT.
We couldn't have messed up both of them, could we? :D :sorry:

 aaaarrgh! I just loaded RSCenter, only to see there's no OC sessionI then realised
I forgot to sign up!
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo
*kicks self repeatedly

That's a shame Damien, you could've tried sending me a PM, I might've seen it.
I guess it's too late for you now.

Overall Rally Results

Congrats Lukasz, Mick and Simone :good:

Stage wins
Lukasz Demolin: 5 stage wins :star::star::star::star::star:
Simone Demi: 3 stage wins :star::star::star:

Nice first rally for Mick, a nice and consistent drive, congrats on P2.
Simone had impressive pace again, but issues on a couple of stages meant that he ended up a bit lower than expected. Even a great drive on Joux Plane, with over half a minute in front of second, didn't help.
Hans had some issues, but the times on some stages weren't bad at all :). It is a tough sim to get a handle on, and it's a tricky car too.

Thanks to everyone that showed up, see you next week :parrot:

Next week it's time for Round 4 of the Rally Championship, anyone is free to join :rally:
We're using cars from A8W-03, 04 and 05 packs, plus N4_1 and N4_2. Details here: http://www.racedepartment.com/rd-rally-championship/41438-rdrc-s1-round-4-a.html

Congratulations to Lukasz, you are on a roll now, no stopping you.

Well done Mick and Simone for the podium.

Big welcome to our first time drivers, Mick and Hans, great to have you both aboard our Rally Club, hope you had fun. Glad to see your installation working now Hans. :thumb:

Very little of the dreaded "red ink" this time, well done everyone in an unfamiliar car.

No Aussie talent on display for this one, so lets hope we can bounce back strongly next week, especially since we Aussies get so much experience driving in Snow.

Thanks to Senad again for his dedicated organisation, hopefully I can give you a hand next week.

Had sound issues again, so cobbled this one together fast.
Didn't use a lot of replays, it's short, if you don't count the slow motion footage at the end, which I enjoy , and you can skip :D

Thanks to Lukasz for preparing the skins :thanks:

Absolutely brilliant video Senad, you are becoming the master of movie making.

Some great material there too, geez, those old Volvos were tough. Now we know why crash test dummies were so so well known in Sweden.

The final section (slow motion) is a master stroke, especially the music selection.
I guess if you don't spin the Volvo in RBR, then you aren't human :ghost: .

Thanks heaps Senad, gave me a huge smile. :thanks::thanks:

I completely agree with Warren, it's a really fantastic job, Senad. Also, some really impressive saves from you on the Joux Plane (except the roll, of course ;)). Solid driving. Ondrej had some seriously nice looking moments on Chird too, it was a pleasure to watch. Really cool idea with the spins in the end, just like Warren said.

15/10 if you ask me :)
