Rally - Group H Team Challenge - Monday 17th &Tuesday 18th September 2012

Are you kidding me? The AE86 is the most balanced RWD in Group H.

I think it's "horses for courses" really, different cars will suit different drivers depending on your driving style. I personally find the E36 to be the most stable / balanced for me, but it can often depend on the Stage or the weather (grip level).

The Escorts are the most "exciting / challenging" though.

Damned nice run in the Corolla there Fernando.

Didn't recce, some testing, just decide to have fun. Not much to report, sometime I was fast, sometimes I spun. I got a good force feedback setup and that let me counter steer. Looking on to next time!

I'm in the same boat as you Warren, I also find the E36 to be the best for me as I find it stable, pretty heavy and long and a good amount of power to get her going!

Have enjoyied the Toyota's in the past as well though as their pretty nimble!

Madness, utter madness I tell you!

SS1 - Was really slippy so I was Incredibly cautious, as the wheelspin is pretty insane in this car, felt incredibly slow though :(
SS2 - Slightly better, the grip was considerably improved, felt faster in that stage than in the previous.
SS3 - Great feeling in that stage, albeit a few sideways moments :p
SS4 - Enjoyed that stage, could go flat out in most places. I hope it can continue feeling this good for the rest of the rally.
SS5 - Few hairy moments in there, very close to the trees in the narrow sections, otherwise it was ok
SS6 - Stage felt really good, great stage to drive on. Fairly slippy but the wheelspin works to your advantage in there with all the 90 degree corners.
SS7 - Scandinavian flicks were crucial for me in this stage, didn't push too hard on account of the fog, but it was still okay, I guess.
SS8 - Fun stage, but can be evil if you screw up. Went ok for me though which is good :D

That was fun, great to use the RWDs again, I think I was better this time round than last time ;)
Great battle with you Warren, its good to be back in the fighting spirit hehe.
Also first time in a while that I have used the h-shifter, and it was most enjoyable.
Thanks guys for setting up the sessions, we couldn't do this without you.
Loving all the entires we got for this rally, well done everyone!!

Yep, it was a bit wild at times, but definitely fun.
I made it to the start line, drugged to the eyeballs with painkillers, hoping it didn't dull my brain too much. Thankfully, it wasn't too bad.
I chose the Escort Mk5 for a challenge and also because it usually proves unpopular for some reason. I quite like it though, so long as I remember to keep the right foot under control.
I drove rather sedately on most stages, trying to get that feel that is so necessary for these RWD cars. Whilst I kept it on the road most of the time, I was getting badly flogged by Fernando on most stages. I noticed that he was gaining about 5-6 secs on many sector 1 time splits, so clearly my starting technique (of standing there wheelspinning ) was a problem. The last couple of stages I took off much more gently which seemed to help a bit.

All in all, pleased to finish this one and to keep it clean(ish).
Quite a large Group in OC again, good to see.

Looking at Jack's times, I think I made a boo boo letting him pair up with Fernando. ;)
Thanks to all who joined the OC session.

Haha, not bad for someone who did one recce session then :ninja:
I have that wheelspinning at the start issue too, no matter how i have my right foot O_O
Also, Fernando is a great teammate, wish I could have him as my teammate next season :p but I'm too slow haha

Hope you get better soon Warren!
