Rally - Escort Mk 2 Take 2 - Mon 28th & Tues 29th November 2011

Oh well, not run a metre since last time I drove here, that is some time ago... Roy reminded me about the rally 21:10 local time, so I had to kick out the guest I had, and assemble the wheel.

SS1: Very fun, guess the drifters and McRae would be proud, over 20 sec behind SuperSeb, but, best of the rest!

SS2: Fastest in EU - whaaaat??? :p I found myself very nervous, as I haven't tried the game for months, and not the car since last time it was in the club rally.

SS3: Even more nervous, I have no idea where the grip is, or how much grip there might be in the car, very careful driving, and quite a bit tip-toe, still best of the rest.

SS4: Straight ahead in the first 90-left. Got stuck on... uhm, grass, without a hill or bushes or anything that kept my car there, still it wouldn't move. So i stood there for 30 seconds, and then used call for help, when I left the first 90 degrees the time was on 1.25 or something... Then I forgot that I should be "afraid" of not knowing the grip so I got plain lucky that I didn't loose the car again. I guess the rear of the car was halfway to New Zealand...

SS5: Hit the rocks in the second left turn, and the rest of the stage is business as usual, lots of sideways, and I hate the stage!

SS6: Two CFH, one after 4.6km and one with 0.0 left.

SS7: Argh, the tree at the last corner...

SS8: Spun early, and retired. Decided I didn't want to drive anymore.

At the end: Well, I always, no matter how much or little practice I have, aim for victory (or 2nd when SuperSeb is here), but with this little driving I might get a stage win, and that is more than good enough. Brilliant little car, not so brilliant (or little) man driving.

Do you know if the behavior of th RWD are as realistic as the other cars in this game ? One of my teammate tell me that for the RWD they do the same physical as the FWD but for the rear wheel.

As Ondrej said, no RWD cars in RBR, it's a hack, FWD car turned backwards.

Don't know if it's realistic, no experience. But from my point of view, I was working the wheel and gas pedal in a very similar fashion to rally guys in Escorts on YouTube :D

well i had a great time in my first ever online RBR rally, no DNF's, albeit with about 3 CFH's and 2 high speed rolls!

Great fun, I believe i was P3 in the EU server so far, pretty happy with that although that will change with the overal results im sure!

My rally was like the usual ones - crash on ss1, and then try to salvage a result. A CFH on SS3 was the most dramatic with the rest of my rally, keeping it steady to the end. I did end up 4th in the EU-session, but somewhere around 7 minutes behind Seb (did you have 4wd on your Escort today? :p).

I have a livery that resemble Colin McRaes Escort, and today the driving matched it very well:D

Definitely great fun, although this rally was so unforgiving - the slightest mistake and you'll lose so much time unless you're very lucky. I was having so fun pushing the car that rather predictably I retired on all but 3 stages, but I'm not too bothered. Had a clean run on Mineshaft though which I'm pretty proud of.

My replays: http://speedy.sh/fp7mP/Chris-Williamson-Escort-Rally2.rar (Includes Chirdonhead with rolling the car and Mineshaft which was pretty clean)

My second car was a 1966 Lotus Cortina. This Escort is very similar, just a little heavier and with more motor. Was great fun tonight. Everything went well until the final stage. I ran the first seven stages cleanly, if not particularly fast. Final stage went well, right up until I ran head on into a small tree 2/3 of the way through the stage. Sheesh. Killed it dead.

When I tried the car, just before the event on Sikakama, I saw that if I go out of the track with my car stopped, it is impossible to get back on the track. And the CFH make you loss 35s instead of the 20s for the other cars (excluding the times your are loosing before and after the CFH). So with realistic damage, I really try to stay always on the track, this maybe help me to do these times.

Here is a replay of the stage 4

Thanks

Joined OC session as well but I knew I wont have time to do all stages. Im really disappointed about what happened yesterday (EU & EUX sessions). Wanted to do first 3 stages clean. Started first stage and realized I have no FFB and the degrees of rotation was 900, not 200 + H shifter was acting weird. Well, decided to retire first stage and do well on 2nd and 3rd stages. 2nd stage was OK, nothing impressive, could have been way better. 3rd stage.. well, the begginig was OK but then made few small mistakes and decided its not worth to drive further. Really sad, I was waiting this rally.
